Anyway, I only made the link to Simeon DECKER a few days age, by chance, and am still not positive he is my GR GR Grandfather. My Gr Grandfather is Clarence/Count Burton DECKER. I had found references as to his birth being Illinois and also Kansas. Finally, found an 1870 Kansas, Sedgwick County, Wauculla Twp. census, and lo and behold, there he was, listed with Simeon DECKER. DECKER, Simeon M. age 47 Farmer Ohio , Mary D. age 41 Ohio , Count B. age 21 Farmer Illinois , Hannah C. age 18 Illinois , Robert J. age 18 Wisconsin , Ira age 17 Illinois , Arthur age 17 Wisconsin , Frank M. age 16 Wisconsin , Mary J. age 15 Wisconsin , Eliza A. age 12 Wisconsin , Lincoln. D.M. age 9 Missouri , John D. age 9 Wisconsin , Frank J. age 7 Illinois , William age 6 Illinois , Albert W. age 4 Illinois , Susan L. age 2 Kansas Whew!!! Now my immediate assumption was that the children born in Illinois were Simeon's, the children born in Wisconsin were Mary's by a former marriage and little Susan was theirs together. So, off to the National Archives I go to pull the actual census ( I live in Atlanta, and luckily we have a branch here) thinking more info will be available on them. The above is it!!!! I have found another web site with Simeon listed, but my Clarence/Count is not. What I do know about Clarence/Count DECKER: he was born 1849/50 in IL/KS and married my Gr. Grandmother Viola Victoria LUCAS in Madison County, Arkansas, in 1874. Madison County, AR census records, 1880, list him as Count B. Decker, age 30, born in Illinois, Occupation: farmer; Viola Victoria DECKER, age 22, born in AR and Rosa M., age 2, born in Kansas. Rosa was listed as sick with fever/ague and apparently died soon thereafter, as I have never found her listed again. Clarence/Count DECKER was killed in 1893 by a tree falling on him (according to family members). Do you have any info on my Clarence/Count DECKER? If he is not Simeon's son, who is he????? Oh, by the way, also found Clarissa DECKER, age 63, living with Burnham DECKER in the same census. However, could not find any of them in 1880 census.
