If you know when Violet died (within a few years) you can figure when she was born. A generation is usually figured at 25 years, so you can count back from there to get an approximate date for Alfred Decker. I have two Alfred Deckers in my grandfather's lineage in the St. Louis area: one born 1898 (marrried to Edna) and his son born 1937.
