She married Hermann Mullerleile(1874).They were married in 1902 in Lahr, Bavaria. Eilizabeth was born on Jne 7, 1878 in Nierderschoftsheim. They had 6 children, Hermann Friedrich (1902),(Rudy's grandfather), Marie Elizabeth, Karl Wilhelm, Marie, Hans Wilhelm, and Lina ( 1909) Elizabeth died September 3, 1949, probalby in Lahr. I would appreciate any help searching for the parents of Elizabeth, siblings, etc. Thank you
Hi Marilyn, Judy, Did you try to get the official birth record from the register office of Elizabeth's hometown? Normally that would be the easiest to try as they should be able to give you a copy of the birth certificate which states the names of the parents. I checked and could not find a town or village called Nierderschoftsheim, but I think it must be rather Niederschopfheim. Niederschopfheim is today part of the village of Hohberg in the Black Forest, only 11 kms from Lahr. Both towns are now in the country of Baden-Wuerttemberg, but it could be that they belonged to Bavaria at one time. You can have a look at the English homepage of Lahr, they have quite an interesting history there: http://www.lahr.de/e/fr_menu.php?menupk=1 You should contact the local administration of Niederschopfheim at the following address: Gemeindeverwaltung Freiburgerstr. 30 77749 Hohberg Telephone +49 7808 / 88 0 Telefax +49 7808 / 88 49 E-Mail rathaus@hohberg.de If possible, write in German. But they should understand basic English too. It's recommended to enclose a return envelop if you write by normal post. A copy of the birth certificate will cost you about 7-9 EUR, so maybe you are better off to ask by email first how the document would be sent to you and how you could do the payment. They need the name, date and place of birth and (to be on the safe side) the reason for your inquiry (it's good to state how you are related to Elizabeth). Another good source are the church records of Niederschopfheim which are available with the Mormons on www.familysearch.org: Title Kirchenbuch, 1690-1901 (catholic church records) Authors Katholische Kirche Niederschopfheim (A. Offenburg) (Main Author) Note Location Film Heirats-, Toten-Index Taufen, Heiraten, Tote 1690-1717 FHL INTL Film 957708 Item 1 Taufen (Christenings) 1717-1745 Heiraten (Marriages) 1717-1759 Tote (Deaths) 1718-1747 Firmungen 1726-1760 Firmungen-Statistik 1718-1771 FHL INTL Film 957708 Item 2 Taufen-, Heiraten-, Tote-Index 1745-1767 Heiraten (Marriages) 1759-1771 Tote (Deaths) 1748-1772 Firmungen 1762-1791 FHL INTL Film 957709 Item 1 Taufen (Christenings) 1767-1809 Heiraten (Marriages) 1772-1799 Tote (Deaths) 1772-1809 Firmungen 1800-1802 Tote 1781-1809 Uneheliche Kinder 1770-1809 FHL INTL Film 957709 Item 2 Taufen (Christenings) 1810-1828 Firmungen 1830-1861 Tote (Deaths) 1810-1828 Uneheliche Kinder 1810-1828 FHL INTL Film 957709 Item 3 Taufen (Christenings) 1829-1858 Verschiedene Akten Taufen 1859-1901 FHL INTL Film 957710 Items 1-2 Heiraten 1800-1845 (Marriages) FHL INTL Film 957710 Item 3 Heiraten 1846-1899 (Marriages) FHL INTL Film 957710 Item 4 Tote 1829-1900 (Deaths) FHL INTL Film 957711 Items 1-2 Familienbuch (Family book) FHL INTL Film 957711 Item 3 Familienbuch (Family book) 1888 FHL INTL Film 957711 Item 4 So if Elizabeth was a catholic, you might find her christening on this film: Taufen (Christenings) 1829-1858 Verschiedene Akten Taufen 1859-1901 FHL INTL Film 957710 Items 1-2 BTW In Niederschopfheim there are still living some Decker families. I wish you good luck with your research.
