My great-grandfather used the name Shingledecker when he married but dropped the Shingle in the early 1900s This information comes from census records, county histories, obituaries, family legend and first hand account by elderly ancestors, but a large amount of it remains undocumented. Your family events seem similar, have you tried the name change? Shingledecker also has many spellings. I am always happy to share information as well as receive new leads. Jackie
