    3. HI Diane, Thanks for taking an interest in my missing ancestor. Your suggestions are good ones, and I'll try them next. I appreciate your willingness to help. Also you checked most of the sources that I would have suggested save two: did you check with the local Veterans organizations? Alot of the men from WW2 and WW1 joined the service clubs. Also, do you know where the parents died? Have y ou located an obituary for them? Maybe they list where he was living when they died ... I know that is only a help if they died after he divorced and disappeared. Also, if you know where he served, in what unit.....check the veterans publications. There are still alot of units that do reunions, and you might get lucky and he is listed on one of their rosters. I know that there are very few WW1 veterans left around now, but the ones that are still here are highly regarded by their peers. So place an ad in a Veterans magazine and see what comes of it. Hope this helps, I too have an elusive ancestor that is driving me crazy in the search. Sincerely, Diane Eaton Hacker famlygeni@aol.com ============================== Expand your family tree. 3. They can't tell anyone when they are leaving. The lines were not secure and they have to protect themselves from the media. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maggie Toussaint" <maggietoussaint@adelphia.net> To: <DECKER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 21, 2004 2:09 PM Subject: RE: [DECKER] Bertha Virginia Decker / Iowa / 1882 > HI Diane, > > Thanks for taking an interest in my missing ancestor.
