Sometime after his mother's death, Richard seems to have been 'adopted' (whether officially or not we don't know) by William T Blain, probably a relative of Richard's mother. Wm T Blain moved from Ky to Ks and Richard later came to Ks and then to Ok. The bits and pieces of information I have on Richard are full of questions and missing bits.
