I have 5 children listed for him David born abt 1764, Jacob born abt 1765, Catherine born abt 1769, Adam, Jr born abt 1776, John born abt 1779. There are quite a few years difference between some of the children so there might be more. I am not sure where any of the above were born but I know that David Decker was in Shenandoah/Page County, Virginia in 1789 when he married Elizabeth Olinger and his children were born there. Thanks in advance for any and all help, Lainee --=======2F4E756B=======--

    3. I do have a Mary Decker but with no dates. The time frame would be similar, but this Mary Decker's parents are Joseph Decker b. Jan 1779 in MD or PA. This comes off of this census: 1880 OH., Guernsey Co., Washington Twp., ED 79, pg 9, img 9 of 15, Roll T9_1020 where his son reports him from PA. Joseph Decker's wife is Catherine Hartman b. in PA - according to same census. I have that they md in Washington, PA. The children I have for this couple are: John b. 29 Apr 1813 Washington PA (from whom I descend) Lewis or Louis b. 1816 in OH or PA Henry Sarah Ann Kate Mary Delilah Elizabeth The ones listed with no dates - I have no dates for. I'd love to learn more about them if anyone thinks this is their line. I know that John Decker moved to Londonderry Twp., Guernsey Co., OH. by 1860 as he shows up in the 1860 census there. I don't know if just he moved or if his Father and whole family moved. Any help or direction anyone could give me would be great. I have further info on John's line as well as on Louis/Lewis' line. Thanks, -JO (Jeanne)

Daniel Rupp. pages 302-304: "Sept. 14, 1753, Ship Edinburgh, James Russel, Captain, from Rotterdam, last from Portsmouth." Among the passengers listed is a Michael DECKER on page 304. He is listed amont those passengers who were "sick" upon arrival. I don't know that this is your Michael Decker, but your Michael would have been about 23 years of age at the time this ship arrived in Phila. I was wondering if among the descendants of your Micahel DECKER, you might have any information on a Mary M. DECKER, supposedly b. in Westmoreland County, PA on December 9, 1800? Parents & siblings unknown. She married John RODDY about 1819 in Johnstown, Cambria Co., PA. She died July 21, 1889 according to her tombstone. Thanks much, Sally

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hgR.2ACIB/1782.1.2.2.2 Message Board Post: Bekki & Robin, According to “ The DECKER Genealogy: by Admiral Benton weaver DECKER (1980), Isaac M, son of Solomon (Zolomon) and Lena (QUICK) DECKER married Antje Hommell and had at least eight children between 1775 and 1791. Information that I have gathered on Solomon’s family indicates that they remained in the Orange and Chemung County, NY and eastern PA area for at least five generations. His grandchildren by his daughter Antje (HALENBECK) were baptized at Claverack in Dutchess Co., NY. You can see this family at URL < http://www.members.tripod.com/~schadt/gerrit.htm >. Although Jan Gerretsen DECKER’s will does not indicate a son named Isaac there are other indicators that he and Blandina KUYKENDALL did in fact have a son named Isaac. It appears that Isaac may have preceded him in death and thus does not appear in the will. Here is one source that mentions an Isaac. >From an article in the April 4, 1968 in the "Valley Advance" reprinted in the June 1985 issue of the "Trail Tracer" The oldest of these five Isaac's was Isaac DECKER, son of John DECKER and wife Dina KUYKENDALL (both born in 1719). Isaac was born in VA about 1746 and came to Indiana in 1784 with his parents and several of his brothers and their families. He was old enough to escape the confusion with the younger Isaac's. He acquired land in Knox Co., IN, part of it in 1790 as payment for service in the Indiana State Militia. I can find no record of his marriage nor of any children, nor of his death and estate settlement. He may have moved into Illinois and his records would be there. The Isaac DECKER who married Dorcas CHAMBERLAIN in Hardyston Twp., Sussex Co., NJ in 1769 does not appear to be either of the Isaac’s mentioned above. Regards, John < jedeck@swbell.net >

    2. My dinner party would be with my great-great-great -great Grandparents, Joseph C. Decker and Mary Bochoven. Where in New Jersey were you born, who were your parents, what happened to your children and who did they marry. and where did your parents come from? I know that GGGG Grandpa was born 27 September 1799 in New Jersey and Mary was born 19 February 1802 . I have most of the information on their second son, Absalom, my GGG grandfather and his children. But what of his siblings? You ended up in Sanudsky county Ohio, what brought you to Ohio? and many many more questions. I would cook my chicken and homemade noodles, apple crisp and string beans w/ bacon and baby potatoes and of course, home made ice cream to go with the apple crisp! A favorite Sunday dinner in our home for years! Diane Eaton Hacker famlygeni@aol.com

    3. Hello, L Joe I took a peek in the 1920 Federal Census and did find your family. There are some important clues there that will help you. 1920 Federal Census, Town of Mattoon, Coles County, Illinois James Decker, Head, Age=52, born in Illinois, Father born in Ohio, Mother born in Ohio Myrtle Decker, Wife, Age=39, born in Illinois, Father born in Illinois, Mother born in Illinois Melvin Decker, Son, Age=(looks like 15) b. Illinois Warren Decker, Son, Age=11, b. Illinois It looks like the other children you mentioned were older and had left this household by then. James' family lives next door to a Frank & Blanche Decker, with a son, Harold, age 2, and a daughter, Catherine, age 4 months. Frank is 23y, and Blanche is 20y. It looks like you'll have to dig in Ohio to find more (earlier family data). Hope this was helpful! Because of the fact that James was born in Illinois and is 52y at the time of this census, it's reasonable to assume that the Ohio part of this story ended around 1868 or earlier. Best regards, Dan Long Sunnyvale, CA

In the 1880 Saratoga Co NY census District 85 Lake Avenue Household 167-174 is an (1) Elizabeth Duel age 70 born England, parents born England; (2) Maria French age 39 (?) daughter born NY, Father born Ireland, Mother born England; (3) 10 other persons listed in household ...perhaps Elizabeth running a boarding house. Hope this helps. He was born circa 1866...i believe near Oneonta. As an adult, he lived in Newburgh (Orange County), New York. While he was white, he married a Black woman named Nellie. He was shunned by his father after this. However, his mother and sister used to travel to Newburgh from upstate to visit him. Needless to say, we have very little information about this part of our family. Anyone in my family who would remember his parents' or sister's names are dead. I am hoping someone who's heard this story from their past might be able to shed some light. Thank you
