    2. Dear GG-grandmother Mary M. (Decker) Roddy, I'd like to know who your parents were. I know you were born Dec. 9, 1800 in Westmoreland Co., PA...but that is such a big area & there were many Deckers there it seems. Since the census back then is not much help, any crumb of info you'd like to cough up would be greatly appreciated. I have found your grave, thanks to a wonderful friend. I know you married John RODDY in Johnstown, Cambria Co., PA about Oct. 1819 & you died July 21, 1889 (thanks for leaving that tidbit on the tombstone). My G-grandfather had your maiden name as his middle name...Samuel Decker RODDY. He was decent enough to even leave a photo. Now please, help me join you to your parents & siblings... Thanks, Sally Huntley GG-granddaughter of Mary M. (Decker) Roddy

    3. Dear Daniel Louis Decker, I sure would love to sit and chat with you a while. Your only son didn't say to much to his children about you and didn't even leave a picture, although I am sure I know your features. If you could please stop laughing at my struggles to find you just long enough to give me a few more clues on your parents and your birth (which was somewhere in KY around 1835). I promise (for now) I wouldn't even ask you to tell me what cemetery in Southern Illinois they buried you in (because I know your not marked). I would so appreciate just a couple small clues from you. If your not much on talking, you could always let your wife Martha Y. Church chat for a while. 2. >> In going over some saved e-mail recently, I think it's time to follow up on the Deckers of Columbia Co. NY, of Scotch/English origin. Since there are so many Deckers of Dutch ancestry, can anyone tell me if the Deckers in this area are mostly Dutch or not? Early censuses in Columbia Co. have a lot of Deckers, and I wonder whether they represent one family or many. I have a John A. (or Henry?) Decker, b. 1838 in Ancram, near Copake. He married Susan Goodrich of Springfield, MA and had the following children: Mary J. Decker, William Henry Decker, Laura E. Decker, and Grace B. Decker. John was a supervisor in a paper mill, and son William followed in his footsteps. The family seemed to move fairly often, including Massachusetts (Berkshire Co.), Ohio, NY (Onondaga Co.) and Canada, always associated with paper mills. John had a brother 10 years younger named James T. Decker, who married Carrie ? and had Nellie, William, and Arthur as children. According to the 1880 census, both families were then in Lee, MA. working for a paper mill. Annie San Jose, CA

Early. That branch of the Mundys had already been in America for quite some time. I don't have any William Deckers either. There were several different Mundys and Deckers that came over at different times and from different places. Do you know where they lived and when? The US GenWeb project has good state and county archives that you could search if you knew those things. Good luck.
