    1. Re: [DECKER] Oliver Decker and Mary Mooso
    2. Joyce, When and where was Oliver born? I am working an Abijah Decker line out of Yates Co NY who migrated to Ohio abt 1820 then to Indiana. Abijah's son John, had 3 unknown children (not his and wife Lucy's) in his household in the 1860 census (Iowa). One was an Oliver Decker b. ca 1854. Does this fit your Oliver? Who was Mary Mooso from Nebraska? A sister or Oliver's wife? Look forward to hearing from you. 3. List: The DECKER genealogy by Admiral Benton Weaver Decker(1980) is available from the FHL in the microfiche format. The FHL number is (FHL US/CAN Fiche 6010832.) The full title is "The Decker genealogy : some descendents of the Dutch immigrants Johannes Gerretsen (Decker) and Jan Broersen (Decker)". Also available in book form is the Downs' book: Title The Decker family of Grayson County, Kentucky Stmnt.Resp. written by Percy Ray Downs, Jr. and Barry W. Downs. Authors Downs, Percy Ray, Jr., 1951- (Main Author) Downs, Barry W, 1955- (Added Author) Notes The first Decker in Kentucky was Samuel, in 1784. By 1807, Deckers were in the part of Kentucky that would become Grayson County. Everyone listed on charts in this book was born in Grayson County. Includes indexes. Subjects Decker Copies Call Number - Location 929.273 D357dp - JSMB US/CAN Book Format Books/Monographs Language English Publication Utica, Ky. : McDowell Publications, 1986 Physical x, 208 p. Film Notes Note - Location [Film] No film notes for this title. I have never tried to get a book from the FHL but understand that it is possible. I have researched the microfiche of Admiral Benton Weaver Decker. It is an extensive work consisting of some 348 pages of many branches of these families originating in the Dutch colonies of the New Netherlands. Many say that it is error ridden but, although I have found discrepancies in some of the lineages, it has been of great help. To discover other writings on the DECKER's in the FHL catalog; go to URL: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?dis play=titlehitlist&columns=*%2C0%2C0&surname=DECKER&presurname=DECKER Regards, John Decker John Decker 5508 Lynn St. Greenville, TX 75402 mailto:jedeck@swbell.net See me at: http://facelink.com/jedecker

    1. Re: DECKER book...
    2. If the Decker book you are all interested in is the book by B.W. Decker...that book has been out of print for many years and Capt. Decker has joined our ancestors. Your best bet is a library with a good genealogy department or perhaps the LDS has it on film. Some research should answer your questions regarding obtaining info from the book. Marilynn Munn Strand

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hgR.2ACIB/210.725.740.742.743.750.755.1 Message Board Post: There have been 2 books written, and as far as I know now they both are out of print, although the latest was in consideration of being reprinted. The one book can be found on the FamilySearch.org web site, under library search, Decker. This can be sent for on a film, using any geneology LDS library in your area, or probably through interlibrary loans. The other one can not be microfilmed, and only is on display at the LDS library in Salt Lake City. The fellow that wrote the book was going to update the book and have it reprinted. But don't know if his e-mail is still available, but this is what I have, Raydowns@hotmail.com. This fellow was going to do a decker web site, but you would probably have to do a google search to see if he ever did. RMominee@aol.com It would be nice if someone would do it someday, with two different lines of the Decker that came to America it would be nice to sererate the families by their geneologies. I hope this helps some
