Decker in Michigan on 10/10/1844 and died in Ionia County Michigan. Unfortunately I do not have dates for William or Mary's life events, but do hope that someone out there who sees this inquiry has an intersection or two with these folks and are willing to share some information. Hi Everyone: I am looking for my Great- Grandmother Mary (mother's last name Darling) Decker from West Branch, MI. She married my grandfather, H.F. Hinds (date unknown). He was a logger and she was a cook at the logging camp. This is how they met. They had one daughter, Isabelle Mae Hinds born in West Branch, MI around 1910. They then eventually moved out to Oregon. Very little is know because my Grandmother Isabelle died when my father was very young. Then my Great Grandmother died when he was only 8 years old and he then went into foster care. Thanks Everyone! Maggie - I just came across your quert about the Decker family in Michigan. I have a record of George M. Decker b 1852 who married Carrie Howe. This couple had children Goldie and Glenn C. Decker. George was the son of Aaron and Elinor McLain. I have information on this family if you are interested. Carolyn I descend from Aaron through their daughter, Melinda, sister of George.

ISAIAH Decker married my g-grandmother Lockwood in New York approx 1910. She was born Eunice Abby but change her name to Almyra Ruth LOCKWOOD (do not know why/when). They went on to have one child James Elizabeth Decker in 1911. It is reported that the DECKER'S treated my g-grandmother very poorly so she 'ran away' when the baby was just months old, taking the child with her. The child was born in East Meadow, Nassau county, NY. This is such a brick wall am beginning to believe that Isaiah is not really the first name, but perhaps a middle name that he went by. So far other than the note saying that James Elizabeth was baptized on June 16, 1911 and her parents were Isaiah Decker and Alma Ruth Decker, I have found no evidance that Isaiah exsisted. Any one else have any DECKERS in the Nassau County area of New York.
Hi all, I am researching the above mentioned, my great-great Grandparents whom came to the USA approx. 1860`s and settled in the Rollingstone, Minnesota area. I see very little on this list concerning the midwest. Lots out East. If the above rings a bell I would like to know. Also John DECKER/Mary HENGEL, or Nicholas DECKER/Mary KANZ. Thanks. I recently found information online that indicated my grandfather, Glen Decker, could be part of the MI Decker line. Here's what I found: Glen Decker b 1895, the son of George Milton Decker b 1852, d 1931, and Caroline Howe b 1862, d 1946. Is there someone on the list that's familiar with the Michigan Deckers? I'd love to hear from you and explore this further. Maggie Maggie Toussaint

my pleasure Maggie, is you have any other questions, please e-mail me. I have been searching mine for all of my 27 married years. My biggest brick wall is on my Dad's side of the family. I swear that he was an alien. I have a wedding certificate with nothing but their names on them and two children...nothing else, not even a tax bill! Good Hunting! diane
Hi Diane, Thanks so much for replying. I don't feel quite so helpless now that I have some good advice. I have only recently taken up the search to try to help Mama locate her father, so I am new to most things genealogical. Your idea of advertising in the Legion magazine is a great one. We do have the divorce decree and the wedding license. I don't believe other family members were listed on either document, but I'll ask Mama to double check. Thanks again. I really appreciate your taking the time to help us muddle through our ancestral jungle. Gloria, Do you know if your Garrett Decker was ever in Ohio such as in Hamilton County, OH perhaps? Any idea where in NY he was born/from? I am searching for an Abijah and Tina/Tiny/Tyne (Jacobus) DECKER. They married in Ontario County NY in 1814 and the witness at their marriage was Tina's brother Garrett Jacobus. Garrett eventually settled in Knox Co IN but Abijah and Tina left NY for Ohio and then into Indiana in Franklin and Dearborn counties between ca 1822 through 1850. Then Abijah, wife and several of their children went to Minnesota ca 1860, then into Iowa ca 1865. Abijah and Tina had at least the following children: Hannah b1817 NY m. Joseph Guard Sarah b1822 Franklin Co IN m. Thos Hyatt John Henry b.1829 Hamilton Co OH m. Lucy Gates Mary A. b.1830 OH m. Mr. Marsh Aaron b.1835 m. Lydia Miner Margaret E. b. 1836 OH m. Richard Bowton Frances M. (Fanny) b. 1839 OH married Wm Gipson There is a gap of no (known) children between 1817 to 1822 and a larger gap of no (known) children between 1822 to 1829. There may have been a son James b. 1818 but this is speculation. Tina may have been Martynje Jacobus b. 1791 New Jersey. Abijah was born ca1787 New Jersey. I could see a fit for your Garrett Decker b. ca1821 NY. Abijah and Tina are my brick wall. I cannot find them in records before 1850. If you are interested in our further comparing notes I would welcome that also. Vicky -------------- Original message -------------- > This is my road block. I am a recent joinee of this list. I posted a request for help in early September and got zero responses, but I'll try again. My brick wall is my grandfather, Glen Earl Decker. Here is the info I have on him. On his marriage license to Flossie Carver (m 1925, divorced 1932) Glen lists his residence as Richmond, VA. He met my grandmother while serving in an Army Transportation Unit in Florida. They had 2 children, Vivian Decker, b 1926, and Glen Earl Decker, Jr, b 1928 (died 1962 no issue, served in the Air Force). We've searched Army records for my grandfather, but his records were in St Louis and burned up. On my mother's birth certificate his age is given as 36, so that would put him as being born in 1890. At one time he worked as a fireman in Volusia County, FL, but we can't find any record of that either. He didn't have a Social Security Number. My mother has been looking for her father for years. She doesn't know if he remarried or what happened to him. She would dearly love to reconnect with anyone from her father's family. Before when I queried the list, I asked for anyone that might know about his sister Bertha Decker Taylor who also lived in Richmond. I don't know if the family originated from Richmond. However, it would seem that there might be a connection there, so if anyone out there has been researching VA Deckers, please get in touch with me. Or maybe his line continued in Florida or somewhere else. If this sounds even vaguely familiar to anyone, I'd love to hear from you. Desperately need help.
