Linda, I am sorry, I didn't mean to imply it was your fault at all. I was simply trying to remind folks of the potential abuses. No, in no way was I trying to insult or accuse you of anything. I am sorry I didn't make that clear. Please, accept my apologies. Sally Huntley

Fellow Decker Researchers, It may NOT be wise to post your individual names, snail mail addresses & e- mail addresses to the List. Usually these posts are "archived" somewhere & anyone may access them. It isn't that I mind the info being posted, I was merely considering the privacy & security of all our fellow list members. I am NOT the person who is collecting the info for the Decker Assoc. & I don't recall who was---but for your own privacy & security---PLEASE e-mail the person directly at their e-mail address. Perhaps the person collecting the info on those interested in the Decker Association would kindly re-post their e-mail address for those who are interested in it. I posted an "offer" once to a specific list to help with translation----10 months later someone found that post in the archives & wrote to me. No harm was done, just wanted to make you aware of the potential problems of posting home addresses & names. Please be careful. Sally Huntley [email protected]
I have transcribed and posted the will of Henry (Hendrick) Decker of Schodack NY from 1799: http://pages.preferred.com/~dsee/WillDeckerHenry.html His wife had been Catherine Vredenburgh, daughter of Isaac Vredenburgh and Cornelia Witbeck. I don't know who Henry's father was, though I would like to know. David See [email protected]
I don't know if my Decker's are related but I am interested in the family association. Patricia J. Kidd 145 New London Ave, New London, Ohio 44851. Email address: [email protected] Patricia
Welcome! Do you have any ancestors from Walpack, Sussex Co, NJ? While walking in one the cemeteries [called the upper Walpack I think-near the Methodist church] I saw a large stone for Hiram House, 1865-1932 and his wife Jennie Brink, 1870-1907. It listed 6 sons, only 1 lived beyond 16 and that was Hiram Jr. Any connection? Linda Hopp, PO Box 115, Moville > IA, 51039-0115 Hi Linda--I'm interested in the Decker family association, however I'm not yet sure that I'm a descendant of Jan Broersen/Decker. I have just learned that I'm a descendant of Jacob Jans Decker b. 1654. Do you know if this is the same family? Pat [email protected] P.S. I tried the webpage you mentioned and it comes back as nonexistent.

Hi: My name is Joan House and I am a decendant of Catherine Decker who, at the time of her marriage to my G-G-Grandfather, Jabez Case, lived in Glenham, N.Y. I have been unable to go any furtrher back with Catherine, but would be interested in joining your Association, as I have a feeling her family came from Orange county. My E-mail address is Joanie9898 and my snail-mail is Joan D. House, 7 Silver Lane, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. 12603. Will be looking forward to hearing from you. "Joanie

Please be assured that no one's mail address will be posted on this list by me. If one wishes to contact me me per postal service my address is: Linda Hopp, PO Box 115, Moville, IA 51039-0115. No response is needed to "Address checks" It is my own check on accuracy. Fortunately there were not many "returns". Linda
Please send responses to the list, not to KWeir. Sorry, don't know how that happened. Linda
I am receiving responses to message about family reunion. Shouldnt they be going to rootsweb instead of to me???
The Decker reunion was held last Oct 10-13 centering around Shawngunk, Ulster Co NY. It was organized by Dr Wayne Decker of UT, Bob Decker of VA, and others. The meetings and meals were in the RDC with side trips. The present owner of the Johannes Decker (T house begun in 17210) was the gracious hostess for an afternoon of touring, visiting and refreshments. Marc Fried, author of "The Early History of Kingston and Ulster County NY", was a speaker as well as members of the group. Also, tours of New Paltz, the Senate House, and the Old Dutch Church in Kingston. Saturday's lunch was at the 1776 Colonial Inn, originally a Decker house. A Decker family association was started, officers elected, family history and memorabilia shared. Presently there is not much activity. My own role has been to seek out people who may be interested. It is hoped to gather and share Decker family information. Robert Mominee has a web site with a lot of info-it shows a huge amount of work. Robert has volunteered to develop a separate Decker data base after he finishes some other projects . You may want to have a look at http://www.geocities.com/~Heatland/Ranch/2697. Bob subscribes to this list so I'll let him tell you how to submit material for inclusion. Hats off to Bob who has done a ton to help others with their research. The reunion was terrific-the Decker cousins are great people!! There were about 90 from 18 states. With a family organization many more could be advised of the opportunity to join for a good time!
