Is there a digest form of the Decker mailing list? I am trying to cut down on my separate e-mails and if so, how do I get it. I am currently researching Dekker's from the Zeeland area. If anyone is looking for family in that area please contact me and I will see if you have ancestors that I have already found. I have numerous Dekkers which I have not connected. I living in the Salt Lake City Area and visit the FHC for 12 hours each Friday and would be happy to look up any information on Dekkers. So far I have written down every Dekker that I have ran across. ******************************** I sent the above e-mail earlier, stating that I was researching Dekkers in the Zeeland (Netherlands) area. I have looked and recorded Dekkers in the towns of Hoek, Axel, Terneuzen, Serooskerke, Grijpskerke, Zaamslag, Meliskerke and Mariekerke. If you have questions regarding Dekkers in these towns let me know. I have Dekkers from early 1700's to 1954 in the Netherlands. Our family immigrated in 1954 to the states. Happy Hunting, Debbie
Thanks, sorry to be a bother. I got in this time. Niki

When time allows, please do a lookup for: DECKER, Horace, born abt 1832 in NY State. He moved to Michigan, married, and died in Michigan, but have not been able to find out anything about where he was born; who his parents were; and did he have siblings. Thanks a lot for offering to help. Diane in Michigan mailto:[email protected]

This appears in The Illustrated City of New York-Metropolis of Today pub. in 1888 by International Publishing, NY: Jacob V.P. Decker, wholesale dealer in and planter of Oysters, Barge 23, foot of Charles Street, N.R. Among the various representatives of the oyster interests of the metropolis there is none better known than Mr. Jacob V.P. Decker, who for more than half a century has been engaged in this line, and may be considered a pioneer in the industry. Forty years ago, Mr Decker after ten years previous experience, started in the business as an oyster merchant, beginning on a small scale but gradually increasing his facilities and resources as his trade grew. Eight years ago he purchased the business of A & B. C. Bloodgood, which had been established in the fifties, and he now controls one of the largest lines of patronage of any dealer in the business, his trade extending to all parts of the United States, while he also exports considerable quantities to Cananda and Europe. His headquarters are at Barge No. 23, foot of Charles Street, where he has every facility for the expeditious transaction of business. Mr. Decker is a general planter and wholesale dealer in the choicest brands of oysters, and his ample resources enable him to supply all wants at the lowest market prices. A native of Staten Island, Mr. Decker has long been prominently known. He is an active member of the wholesale oyster dealers and planters association. Hope this is of interest.
