    1. [DECKER-L] 1810 inden:Jacob Decker & wife,Eliz, Amwell twp, Hunterdon Co,son of Andries ?
    2. Hi- I think this is the Jacob Dacker/Decker from Amwell twp, Hunterdon Co named in Andries Decker's will.(husband of Dvierje Maule) This is the only Jacob Decker I could find in any Hunterdon Co records; the only other Decker in Hunterdon Co records was John Decker (wife, Sarah DeMott) who was also mentioned in Andries' will. There were no records in Hunterdon Co for another brother, Peter Decker, Hunterdon Co, also mentioned in Andries' will, but there was a Peter Decker (married to Styntje) living in next door Somerset Co. nearby. Would love to be in contact with any descendents of this Jacob or his son, or other descendents of Andries and Divertje (Maule) Decker. Thank you in advance. Janet Bornhoeft Indenture is at Hunterdon Co Courthouse. Jacob Decker, Senior & wife to Jacob Decker, Junior. 1. [DECKER-L] 1782 Lawsuit, Peter Decker vs Pieter Monfoort est.
    2. Hi- Thought someone might enjoy this old lawsuit and perhaps connect with some of the names in it. This is from the Docket of Peter Brummer,Readington twp, Hunterdon Co., NJ at the Rutgers U Library. I tried to copy it verbatim: Peter Dackor @ Abm Monfort Ex of the Estate of Peter Monfort dec. Dec. 14th 1782 Sumd Defendt to appear at the While(?) house the 21st In__ant at 2 o'clock afternoon-the parties appeared at the Time appointed and after some debate I adjourn the matter to Monday the 30th In_ant at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, Plaintoff Demanded a Jury, granted a Venire(?)-to summon on a Jury of 12 Men. The Parties appeared aagreeb(le) to adjournment when the following persons being freeholders likewin(?) appeared a Juror to wit- John Wyckoff, Henry Miller, Abraham VanDyke, Richard Stillwell, Simon Wyckoff, Abraham TenEyck, John Ditmars, Broyon Brocaw, Abraham Johnson, Nicholas Wyckoff, JohnVliet, and James Perrine who being legally F(?)___ after hearing & confirming the allegations of both the parties & the evidence of John Wyckoff F(?) N(?) & Michael Demot, brought in their verdict in favour of the Plaintiff in The sum of L (pounds) 5:0 of which ag____the Defendt to pay being due to the Plaintiff from the Estate of Peter Monfort decd for a legacy left to the Plaintiff Wife- L 3:5 Co_ (f?ss?) the Defendt paid the Co_(f?ss?)-paid the Jurors & Constables fees- Recd (?) the Debt of the Defendt paid the Debt to Michael Demod who promises to deliver it to the plaintiff. From: Docket of Peter Brunner, Readington twp., Hunterdon Co., NJ. (at RUL) The above can be understood better by referring to Pieter Monfort's 1771 will (Hunterdon Co (NJ) will no 1123) in which Pieter Monfoort states: "I do order and it is my will that my Executors shall pay as a Legacy the sume of fifteen pounds out of my Estate to the Children of Weina, my second wife's dafter(daughter), to be Equally divided among them." Although Pieter Monfoort does not name his second wife, she is Styntje (Jansen) Longstraet , who first married Adriaen Langstraet (who died abt 1728), then married William Williamson (abt 1741) and then married Pieter Monfoort (abt 1748). Weina/Wynea,Styntje (Jansen) Longstraet Williamson Monfoort's, daughter, had at least two daughters: Styntje, wife of Peter Decker, who is referred to in the above lawsuit and another one who married an Auten and had two children- William and Jacob(a) Auten. This Weina is the Wynea DeMott (2nd wife of Michael DeMott, Hunterdon- his first wife was Phebe Schermerhorn) who wrote a will in 1793 in which she named her daughter, Styntje, wife of Peter Decker and Auten grandchildren. (Her husband, Michael, who wrote his own will in 1790, also had a daughter named Styntje who was married to Cornelius Williamson.) Wynea's first husband, by whom she had at least the two daughters mentioned above, was William Goyon. Confusing, huh? These relationships were researched by Fred Sisser III. I am descended from Peter and Styntje Decker and would look forward to hearing from any relatives. I believe my Peter Decker is the son of Andries and Divertje (Maule) Decker and the brother of John Decker who married Sarah DeMott. Hope you enjoyed this. 1. [DECKER-L] Martin DECKER 1880 Roxbury NY
    2. dlong24
    3. Hello, list New to this particular list and would appreciate leads or information on this puzzle: Looking for the parents of Martin DECKER living in Roxbury, NY (Delaware Co.). In 1880 he was maried to Frances M. GAGE. Martin is listed as 34 years old in the Roxbury Census of 1880 (b. 1846). There are other earlier Martin Deckers living in Roxbury, but the dates/ages do not match. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1880 NY Census, Town of Roxbury: Martin Decker, age 34 (b. 1846); Frances M. Gage, age 35 (b. 1845); Jay Decker, age 17 (b. 1863); Lee Decker, age 14 (b. 1866); [Not shown, son Edward O. Decker, age 23 (b. May 02, 1857) left home already]. Living in this household is a Jacob Decker, age 60 (b. 1820). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Would like to know if and how the above Martin Decker is related to the Martin(s) in some earlier censuses in the same town: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1850 NY Census, Town of Roxbury (#1696) - Martin Decker, age 50 (b. 1800); Martin Decker, age 15 (b. 1835); and others. Living in this household is a Jacob Decker, age 26 (b. 1824). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1840 NY Census, Town of Roxbury - Martin Decker, (presumably 40-49 years old, likely 40, b. 1800, but uncertain); Mrs. Decker, (presumably 30-39 years old); Childrens names not listed, just a count of age ranges. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks Daniel Long Sunnyvale, CA USA

    1. [DECKER-L] Moses Decker Descendant's Census Update
    2. Denny Shirer
    3. Listers, This message is for any of you that descend from Moses Decker of Viroqua, Vernon County, Wisconsin, late of Muskingum County, Ohio, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and Orange County, New York. I have just completed a year long census update of my Shirer Family database which includes the descendants of Moses Decker. The update found many missing members and included new additions previously not documented. In many cases the families were followed every year until the 1930 census. There are many that still refuse to be found and I do not have access yet to the 1900 census outside of Ohio so there is still much work to do but the bulk of the work is done. If you are part of this family and haven't found the census records yet, then here is your chance. You will have to go to an individuals record to see the census data. I can't think of any reason to include them as separate census pages as it is easier to find the person through the index than it is to search countless census pages. I do have the digital images of the census pages (only those included in the database. I do not have all the census pages and will not do lookups so please don't ask!) For those wanting a census image of someone in the database, let me know. This only is for descendants of Moses Decker as listed above and associated families. If the census year is not included in his/her record, I do not have it. The records can be found at the Shirer Family Genealogy Project at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mysong The site should be spidered in a few hours so by tomorrow all the new records should be indexed. You can either use the search tool or the surname index to find an individual. 1. [DECKER-L] FW: Samuel BOWSER, Adams County, 1829
    2. Judy Baker
    3. Subject: Samuel BOWSER, Adams County, PA 1829, also DECKER, GROSCOST and others Dear List Members, I discovered today through the newspaper images at ancestry.com the following information about Samuel Bowser of Adams County, PA, who is attributed to Matthias II, Matthias I in the Bowser Family History. I was searching for the Groscost surname. Perhaps others have also found this information but thought it worth sharing. This is also posted to Bowser and Decker Lists so forgive any duplication. Notice, Adams County Sentinel, Gettysburg, November 25, 1829 begin transcription/ Notice is hereby Given To All the Heirs and Legal Representatives of SAMUEL BOWSER Late of Hamilton township, Adams county, deceased, to wit: Samuel, since deceased, who left issue eight children, to wit: Margaret, intermarried with Willard Smith, Mary, John, Martha, Nancy, intermarried with _______Paxton, Jane, Jacob, and Samuel, the two latter of whom are still in their minority; Michael Bowser, Margaret, Jacob, Elizabeth, intermarried with Daniel Groscost, who died leaving issue three children, to wit: Sophia, intermarried with John Decker, Jesse Groscost and Eliza Groscost; Catharine, intermarried with Sholeas Patterson, Mary, Hannah, Sarah, John, and Nancy; that AN INQUEST will be held on Friday the 18th of December next, on the premises, upon a certain Plantation, situate in Hamilton township aforesaid, adjoining lands of Daniel O'Blenis, Mary Kitchen, Andrew Wolf, and others, containing 112 Acres, and allowance, with the appurtenances to make partition of the premises aforesaid, to and among the heirs and representatives of the said intestate, in such manner and in such proportions as by the laws of this Commonwealth is directed, if such partition can be made without prejudice to or spoiling the whole; but if such partition cannot be made thereof, without prejudice to or spoiling the whole, then to inquire how many of the children and representatives of the said deceased, the premises aforesaid will conveniently accommodate without prejudice to or spoiling the whole, and make such partition thereof, and a just appraisement of the several parts thereof; but if the premises aforesaid will not conveniently accommodate more than one of the children or representatives of the deceased intestate without prejudice to or spoiling the whole, then to make a just appraisement thereof undivided, and make report of their proceedings according to law. PHILIP HEAGY, Sheriff Sheriff's Office, Gettysburg, Nov. 24 /end transcription I'm not certain how many times the notice was published. I came across two more on 9 December 1829 and 16 December 1829 in the Adams Sentinel. The ruling posted on Jan. 25 [1830] by the Orphan's Court at Gettysburg issued a "shew cause why the real estate of said deceased should not be sold, agreeably to the Intestate Laws of this commonwealth." Hearing date set for "23rd February next". This notice appeared in the Adams Sentinel, 24 February 1830. I am the 3rd great granddaughter of the listed Sophia Groscost (05 April 1803-22 November 1873), who married about 1821, John Decker, (02 February 1800-04 April 1877) of Adams County, PA. The descendants of John and Sophia Groscost Decker are documented in Percy Edward Deckard's Genealogy of the Deckard Family..., copyright 1932. I'd appreciate hearing from descendants of John and Sophia Groscost Decker or Elizabeth Bowser and Daniel Groscost. Judy Baker
