I am from the JOHN DEAN (1755 - 1832) and SUSAN KIRKE (1760 - 1796) line, they came to Nova Scotia by accident in 1795 from Ireland. They were headed for the Carolinas when the ship was captured by the British and brought into the Halifax harbour. Story has it that he was on his way to join a few brothers that were already established. He never made it, and I don't know any older lore about his family. Any chance you can see a connection?
