Seeking clues or any information on an Emily Dean, who married Jesse BIHM in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana in 1857. The earliest record I have thus far located on her is an appearance with Jesse's older brother, John Beam (Bihm), and his family in the 1850 St. Landry Census. Emily's age is given as 18 and born in Ireland. John's wife, Mathilda Beam, age 27 and also born in Ireland. (Emily perhaps sister or cousin of Mathilda?) The Bihm's daughter, Clara, is aged 3 and born in LA. John Beam is aged 30 and he, too, is born in LA on the 1850 Census. The Bihm family (German ancestry) appears in LA records in the 178O's, so unlike Emily and Mathilda, they were not newcomers. I have no idea how these two Irish females came to be in southwest Louisiana in, and a little before, 1850. Any Ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks! John Gaudin
