    3. Jay has made a good point. Including race and nationality would make it much more efficient when sorting out information about a family name as common as DEAN. In my research, I have also been screening for religion and counrty of origin. My line were Protestants. Most of the DEANS who settled in this area were Irish Catholics. So when I scan the censuses, I don't follow-up on any of those families. As for country of origin, I am continually fascinated that the American DEANS rarely trace back to pre-immigration documents in the British Isles ( where I assume all the DEANS originally came from). My DEAN research has taken me back to the mid-1700's in Keighley, West Yorkshire, England. Although there is a chance that they immigrated from Ireland to England, including Irish DEANS in my research at this point would be too confusing. What do you think about these suggestions? Heather P.S. I am looking for relatives of JOSHUA HARDISTY DEAN Keighley, West Yorkshire- approx. 1750 to 1850. -----Original Message----- From: Jay <jthill@inreach.com> To: DEAN-L@rootsweb.com <DEAN-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, January 25, 2000 7:32 PM Subject: Another Suggestion >I have been on this family list for awhile now and I have seen suggestions >come and go but, one I haven't seen yet is about race or nationality.
