The biggest reason to follow up on collateral lines is that what you don't find on your grandfather's death certificate or your grandmother's birth certificate, may be there written in big, easy-to-read letters on your great-aunt's! Or maybe your gr-great uncle's descendants have already researched the line, complete with pictures!
