Do you have any info on a Richard DEAN who was born possibly around 1760, served in the Revolution and moved to Georgia by the early 1800s? We have lots of information from him on down, but are completely stuck on his parentage! According to my records, the Diana DEAN who married Elijah THOMPSON on 22 Nov 1820 in Mercer Co., KY was the daughter of John and Jane "Jennie" McFATRIDGE DEAN. This John DEAN was the son of Thomas and Dianna (?) DEAN. (He was also a half-brother to my ancestor, Nathan DEAN, son of Thomas and his first wife, Elizabeth SHENTON. Karen Wohlwend

Hello, I tried to send mail to a BKenn156@aol.com and the mail was returned twice. Here is what I have on Nehemiah in 1850: 1850 Census Jackson Twp. Madison co., Ind. Nehemiah DEAN 48 Pa. Mary DEAN 28 KY Jackson 14 Ind Ellis 12 Ind James 6 Ind Mary Ann 4 Ind Nehemaih 1 Ind. later, sherri in texas
I have only subscribed to the list recently and I have a few ideas that may be helpful. As I am searching for connections and my missing links, I read all mail, and have a few hints. 1. write your search surname in UPPER CASE LETTERS 2. add a year of birth and/or death so we can compare notes 3. suggest the country, state or province, county, town, city or village 4. and because I am nosy, perhaps you could add where you are writing from Thank you for your patience with this "newbie". We are all in this together and we may be related. Sheila (nee Dean) Eichstadter Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Sheri, The James Dean and my Dean family was in Madison and Grant Co., Ind. Summitville and Anderson are in Madison Co and Fairmount, Marion and Frankton are in Grant Co., Ind. There maybe a connection here Claire

I have a great grandfather named Jacob who was born in Ohio and moved to Indiana. His father was also named Jacob, born in Ohio, in about this time frame.
Dear Sheila, I am a SC Dean descendant and have some information on the Deans of SC. My ancestor William Dean was born ca 1765. I do not know where or anything about his parents, but he married a Charleston SC girl and was in Rev. in the Charleston area, so there is a chance that his family came into the Charleston area. I have just recently found her family and have not yet researched it. I don't think I have any information that will prove anything for you, but if you can open an Excel spreadsheet, I have a file of Deans from several different researchers who are trying to put all of the Edgefield Co., SC Deans into perspective. With regard to that for all you others who have mentioned Samuel Dean who married Sarah Dunkin who d. March 1850 in edgefield Co.---I was looking for a Holloway ancestor in the 1800 Edgefield Co census today and found on page 176- Samuel Dean 11010-41010 and living next door Richard Duncan 11010-24011. Samuel has a son William according to SandraG627@aol.com that could possibly be my William. Victoria, Why don't you post some of your information? Maybe when I get to the genealogy library again and home I will have the information to match things up. I am in Pa until Oct 1 - normally I am in Houston where there is a great genealogy library. If anyone has ancestors from the Pittsburgh area I would be glad to look up the information for you. Claire
I am looking for Nehemiah DEAN born about 1802 in Penn.(?) He married Melinda Jones in 1819 in Brown Co., Ohio. In 1840 they are in Jackson twp., Hamilton Co., Ohio with 9 children. In 1850 he has moved to Madison Co, Ind. and remarried and there are 5 children with him. I only know of 1 child from his 1st marriage, George Dean born 1831 in Ohio and died 1914 in Rice co., Minnesota. In 1860 Nehemiahs children are with a family in Kentucky, but haven't made the connection yet and the records from Madison Co., burned in a fire so there is no will or probate. Thanks, Sherri Golightly
