    1. Pennsylvania Deans?
    2. Julie Quick
    3. Hi! I am wondering if there are any listers researching DEANs in Pennsylvania. I have a connection in the 1800's and my specific request has gone unanswered so I thought I would do a generalized question. Other connected surnames include: Woodring, Croft, Fay/Faye, Moore. If there is anyone out there with easy access to birth records of Washington Co., PA I would appreciate a hand. Thanks. Julie Ps. I know that I can send for the record but I have had little luck in doing so and have been out the $$. Thanks.

    1. Reuben Dean
    2. Barrie Rosier
    3. Reuben Dean born about 1760 married Jennie (Jane) Vawter in Caroline County, Virginia 25 February 1792. She was born 1757 and died 1820. In 1806, Reuben and Jane moved from Caroline County to Spotsylvania County. Children, all born in Virginia: Aylett, born about 1794 married Ann F. Jones 1819; John, unmarried, died 1878 in Texas; Reuben married Lavinia Hart, died 1843 in Alabama; George born about 1806 married Eliza Johnston, died 1859 in Texas. There were two more children, a male and a female, names unknown. After the death of his first wife, Jane, Reuben married Hetty (Hester?) Royston in Caroline County, Virginia. They had one known child: Mary Jane, who first married a Adams and, second, a Blackwell in Louisiana. Aylett, John, Reuben,Jr. and George went to Alabama, then all except Reuben, Jr. later went to Texas. What happened to Reuben and Hetty (Royston) Dean? Where was Reuben born, who were his parents, and where did he die? Barrie Dean Rosier.

    2. A year or two ago. There was a complete lienage of Richard Dean in Laurens Co, GA. I downloaded it and made a hard copy, but could make no connection to my husband's family. I live 301 N. Cherokee Ave in Dothan, tel 334 792-7882. Where are you in Dale County? I'd be glad for you to read this material, maybe you can connect. I have saved all Dean info which I think might be applicable.

    3. Since I have had two requests so far today requesting more information about the census on CD, I decided that the best way to handle it is to send it to the entire list: To request by mail: Heritage Quest P. O. Box 329 Bountiful, UT 84011-0329 With a credit card and phone: 1-800-760-2455 (my method) Website: www.Heritage Quest.com Now I understand, from Dick Eastman's Online Newsletter, that these will soon be put on the web for a subscription price, not determined yet. Ancestry.com also plans to put them online. I have just thoroughly enjoyed having them available at home. Pat

    3. Wm Dean is in Johnston Co., NC when the will was filed 1760. I have not seen the will to ascertain the listing of children. That is on my list of things to do in this century. Daughter Rebecca Dean Gooding/Gooden and husband Aaron Gooding ended up in Jones Co., NC when their daughter Mary Gooden Adams was born, as she stated in a petition for a widows pension that she was born and raised in Jones Co., NC, However Jones Co was formed in 1779 from Craven Co., NC.and Mary was born 1759-60.. There is a William Dean with property prior to May 1788 as his line is one of the boundaries of Thomas Dillahunty. In 1793 Wm Dean purchased additional 100 A joining his own land and Thom Dillahunty. Other Deans listed in Jones Co., NC are Joseph Dean, Thomas Dean, William Ennett Dean. The oldest listing is the William Dean I listed above. Mary L. 3. According to the news release quoted in Dick Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter for this week, "This fall, SierraHome's Generations brand and Heritage Quest will be launching GenealogyDatabase.com with the very first online collection of all U.S. Census images from 1790 - 1920. (1920 was the last year released to the public because of the 72-year waiting period. The 1930 census will be released on April 1, 2002.) Heritage Quest is also working on indexes for each year, and has already completed 1790, 1800 and 1870. This is a monumental step forward for online genealogy resources and will be of great interest to serious genealogy enthusiasts and newbies alike. The census is widely regarded as the most important primary source for tracing one's family heritage. GenealogyDatabase.com will be the largest collection of primary source documents on the Web, many of which will be searchable through Heritage Quest's painstaking efforts to extract the names into indexes which link directly to the digitally enhanced image pages. GenealogyDatabase.com will also be accessible through HeritageQuest.com and SierraHome.com. The site will be subscription-based, comparable to other genealogy sites currently online. We will update you on the pricing model when it becomes available. The most important thing to keep in mind is that GenealogyDatabase.com will be the ONLY site offering the entire collection of U.S. Federal Census images for people to access from the comfort of home." I, too have some of the CDs published by Heritage Quest, and have found them helpful. But at $14.95 each ("members price") I can't afford to buy all the ones which reference my ancestors, so I'm looking forward to having them online. The website describing the project is at http://GenealogyDatabase.com Margaret Lindsey Smith

    3. I have personally bought all of the CDRoms for Iowa censuses from 1850-1920. They cost me $19.95 each--right now they have a buy two, get one free that wasn't offered when I bought. I would say the quality is excellent. There is one census, and I believe it's 1900, that seems to be dark on the last several lines of each page. I keep telling myself that I'm going to look at the copy at the Archives to see how it compares, but I haven't. It has been really been wonderful having the copies at home so that I can look any time.
