Miss Gonsky had ventured too far out in the rough surf and had called for assistance. When young Baker went to the rescue he was struck by a huge breaker and carried out to sea by a heavy undertow. Philidelphian, Robert Ayers, fully clothed and cheered by onlookers, swam out 200 feet and was within an arms distance of Baker when he went under the last time. Baker was a member of the Gumboro band and had come here on an excursion today.
