The little fish, which is also known as the "Cape May Goody", was at one time a steady arrival every September but for the past few years have come only in very small numbers. Many fishermen claim that the fish factories drove them away. Despite that fact that the factories caught more fish this year than ever before, the "croakers" are here and an explanation of the former disappearance is still a mystry. The 'croaker; is perculiar to this coast and at one time were salted down in great numbers for winter consumption. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ DE-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
