Article Text: Lewes, Delaware July 20, 1916: In an exciting fight with a nine foot shark which was caught off the Lewes Beach today, Clifton Maull narrowly excaped having his arm bitten off when the big maneater jumped and snapped at him on the deck of the boat. A companion pulled him to one side just in time. The party first noticed that something had become tangled in a drifting haul seine and upon investigation found it to be a shark struggling to free itself from the tangled mess. There were twelve men in the party and they worked for an hour getting the big fellow on deck where he was harpooned. He was nine foot long, weighed 410 pounds, with teeth that measured from an inch and a half to four inches long in its mouth which when opened measured one foot in length.
