E. Graves Death at Lewes, Delaware Article Text: Lewes, Del., Feb 2, 1944: William Edward Graves, 82, pioneer Lewes manufacturer, was stricken with a heart attack yesterday and died at his home on 4th Street. Founder of the W. E. Graves & Sons shirt factories at Lewes, Georgetown and Milton, he came to Lewes in 1918 from Townsend, Delaware and was active until his death. He bought the abandoned Methodist church here and set up his shirt factory but preserved the sanctity of the building by holding morning prayers each day and retained the stained glass windows and steeple on the exterior. Services will be at his late home Friday at 1 PM.
