Article Text: Lewes, Del., Nov, 28, 1907: The cornerstone of the new Methodist Protestant Church was laid here today with appropriate exercises and the church was formally names the Groom Memorial Church. The services were in charge of the Rev. H. O. Keen of Georgetown, assisted by the Rev. W. W. Johnson of Georgetown, Rev. J. E. Kittell of Harbeson, Rev. George R. McCready of Milton, and Rev. L. A. Bennett of Snow Hill, Maryland. The church was named in honor of Mrs Groom of Lewes, who gave the lot for the church and also a large contribution towards its erection. The center stone contained the names of the church members, the cortributors and the officiating clergyrmn. In the eveninh a short history of the church organoization was read in an address delivered by Captain John Price of Lewes. The sermon was preached by Rev. L. A.
