Article Text: Milton, Del., Feb 25, 1909: After it was discovered that the family graveyard of D. H. Conwell had been completely torn up and tombstones stolen near Broadkill Beach , it was found yesterday that the graveyard of Alonzo Pepper had also been disturbed and several stones taken from there. Some of the graves had been dug into and about fifteen tombstones removed. The vandals had plainly done their ghoulish work at night and the prints of wagon wheels showed that they had taken the stones away. None of the bodies had been taken out, but many had been disturbed. It is supposed that the stones will be planed and sold again. A woman living on Milford Road remembers hearing heavy wagons passing her house one night some time ago and several men singing drunken songs.
