Article Text: Lewes, Del., Aug 25, 1902: The men and women arrested in the series of raids here last night waived a hearing before Magistrate Brewer today and were held for trial. The raids were managed by Detective William Bennett of Camden, N. J. and State Detective James P. Rattledge of Wilmington. They were the result of a crusade inaugurated by leading church members here. The names given by the prisoners and the charges against them are: Edward T. Veasey of the Virden House, charged with fostering gambling and illegal liquor selling; John Veasey, his son, charged with gambling and keeping gaming tables; Jefferson L. Ford, proprietor of the Rodney House, charge with gambling and Sunday liquor selling; David H. Waples and Ebe T Lynch, restaurateurs, charged with keeping speakeasies and gambling; Sadie Martin and Lillie Lawrence, charged with selling liquor, gambling, and keeping disorderly houses.
