The Delaware Republican says the Nanticoke is navigable up to Seaford for vessels drawing some eight or nine feet of water and quite a considerable trade is carried on with Baltimore. One firm shipped 80,000 bushels of corn last fall and others send off quite large quanities. An effort is now being made to procure a steamboat and a considerable amount of stock has already been subscribed. This enterprise, it is thought, will be carried into successful operation. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ DE-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
