Officer Marks, of the First Precinct, found the dead body of a white female infant in James Creek canal yesterday morning. John E. Spaninburge, of Richmond, Va., and Mrs. Julia Noble, of Danville, Va., were the only couple licensed to marry yesterday. The liquor license of James E. Barrett was the only one approved by the licensing board this week. He keeps a saloon opposite the Schuetzen Pak on the Seventh street road. An old soldier named Jeremiah Sullivan was found wandering in an insane condition near the City Hall on Thursday. Yesterday the necessary papers were procured from the War Department, and the poor fellow was sent to St. Elizabeth. Maggie Murphy was found by the police at a house on E Street between Third and Four-and-a-Half Streets, in a sick and destitute condition yesterday, and turned over to Sanitary Officer Connell, who had her conveyed to the almshouse. M. Holtzman of Georgetown denies that his dog bit Mr. Myer’s child four times, as stated, but only once, and that slightly.
