The family re-union at this “golden wedding” last night at Mr. Hunt’s residence, 210 A Street, NE, was a most interesting affair, bringing under the same roof seven children and 13 grandchildren. Two of the children, sons, live the one in Albany, NY, and the other in Lafayette, Ind., the remainder of the children dwelling in Washington. Mr. Hunt was born in 1803, and is consequently in his 76th year. He belongs to a family noted for longevity and vigor, and moves around with an agility more properly appertaining to a man 40 years old than to one who has passed his three score and ten.” His father and two uncles celebrated their golden weddings, one of the uncles with his wife over two years ago commemorating the 64th anniversary of their married life. Mrs. Hunt, who is equally as active as her husband, was born in 1806 and is now in her 73rd year. The parlors ! were profusely and elegantly decorated with flowers, one pyramidal bouquet, a present, being a novelty of floral skill and taste. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt were the recipients of many handsome presents from their old friends in Washington, they having lived here since 1849 (1840??). An elegant banquet was spread in the dining room to which full justice was done. The occasion was one of much interest. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ DC-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news! TM http://www.NewspaperAbstracts.com
