A number of the guests asked to meet them will include a similar visit in their itinerary of the next few months. The table was decorated with Hawaiian flowers, and in the center was a. miniature Hawaiian village. A number of typical Hawaiian dishes were served during the luncheon, and Hawaiian singing girls gave a program of their native music. The guests, in addition to the Secretary and Mrs. LANE, were Mr. Justice McKENNA, Senator and Mrs. Francis WARREN, Mr. and Mrs. James R. MANN, the Assistant Secretary of the Navy and Mrs. Franklin ROOSEVELT, Princess KAWANANAKOA, Admiral and Mrs. Bradley FISKE, Mrs. Henry CORBIN, Admiral STANTON, and the United States military attache to the legation in Switzerla! nd, Capt. EXTON. --- Mr. and Mrs. Perry BELMONT entertained at a luncheon yesterday in honor of Col. and Mrs. George Cornwallis WEST. A distinguished company was asked to meet them, including the Brazilian Ambassador and Mme. da Gama and the Italian Ambassador and Countess Cellere. --- Contrary to previous announcement, Mrs. George BARNETT, wife of the commandant of the marine corps, will receive today at the marine barracks, and not again until March 22. --- Gen. and Mrs. J. B. ALESHIRE entertained at dinner last night informally in honor of Gen. and Mrs. Charles Francis ROE, of New York. Gen. and Mrs. ROE were also the guests of Mrs. Samuel SPENCER yesterday, who was hostess at a luncheon in their compliment. They will return to their home today. --- Mrs. Sherman McCALLUM was hostess at a dinner last night. --- Mrs. CORBIN entertained informally at a dinner last night. --- Countess GIZYCKA, who has been spending some time in California, is now on a motor trip with Mr. and Mrs. William HITT, who went there about a week ago. Countess GIZYCKA expects to join her mother, Mrs. PATTERSON, in Washington for the early spring. --- One of the most interesting events for Easter week will be the dance at Rauscher's on Friday evening, April 9, at 9:30 o'clock, to be given for the benefit of the baby ward of the Children's Hospital. Mrs. John F. WILKINS, Mrs. Clarence WILSON, Mrs. Joseph LEITER, and Mrs. Horace WESTCOTT are on the committee in charge. The dance will be extremely smart, and already parties are being: planned for it. There will be twelve boxes, and a supper will be served at midnight. --- Mrs. B. B. DENISON, of New York city, is at the Willard for a few days. --- Mr. and Mrs. James Barbour KITE, of Richmond, Va., entertained at dinner at the Ebbitt last evening. The guests were Lieut. Col. Samuel REBER, United States signal corps, E. C. LAIRD, Richard P. WINSTON, and Barrington King WEST, all of Richmond. --- Mr. and Mrs. J. H. BARNES have arrived in Washington from Duluth and are at the Shoreham. --- The deepest sorrow is felt in Washington diplomatic and residential society over the death yesterday morning in New York of the former naval attache of the Russian embassy, Capt. Vassilieff. Capt. Vassilieff, who had been ill since October, resigned from his post a short time ago, and his successor arrived in this country about a fortnight ago. With Mme. Vassilieff, he was extremely popular in society, and was a most distinguished officer and diplomat. He came to Washington about six years ago. Funeral services will be held in the cathedral in New York at 11 o'clock this morning. The Russian Ambassador and Mme. Bakhmeteff, with the counselor of the embassy, Mr. Scherbatskoy, and Mr. Melikoff, went to New York yesterday. --- Dr. C. L. WILLIAMS and Mrs. Williams have arrived at the Shoreham to spend some time. --- Mr. Laurence BENET has joined Mrs. Benet in Washington. They will sail from New York for their home in Paris on Saturday. --- The Persian charge d'affaires and Mme. Ali Kull Khan will leave the middle of next month, accompanied by their entire household for San Francisco, where they will spend several months. --- Senator LIPPITT, accompanied by his daughter, left Washington last night for Palm Beach, where they will spend some time before going to their country home in Rhode Island. --- Mrs. William A. CULLOP, wife of Representative Cullop, of Indiana, who has been spending the winter at Congress Hall, is the guest for some time of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. HARPER, at their home in Sixteenth street. --- Senator James D. PHELAN has arrived from San Francisco and is staying at the Shoreham. --- Mrs. Charles B. BRYAN, State regent, D. A. R., of Tennessee, who ran for president at last election, has engaged quarters at the Ebbitt. Mrs. J. Morgan SMITH, who managed Mrs. Bryan's campaign, will be with her. --- Mr. and Mrs. A. Britton BROWNE have gone to Atlantic City to spend some time. --- Senator STONE, of Missouri, with his daughter, Miss Mabel STONE, have left Washington for their home. --- Miss Marie Ahnigh?to PEARY ("the Snow Baby") left for New York yesterday morning, where she will pour tea for the Authors' Club at a reception given at the rooms in the Carnegie building, Seventh avenue and Fifty-sixth street. --- Mr. and Mrs. Louis HERTLE, of Gunston Hall-on-the-Potomac, Va., arrived at the Willard Saturday to spend the week end in Washington. --- Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brashears MERRITT, of 1300 Massachusetts avenue northwest, have issued cards announcing the marriage of Mrs. Merritt's sister, Miss Marion Ethel PRIMROSE, of Streator, Ill., and Frederick James FOELS, of Cleveland, Ohio, on March 1, by the Rev. Dr. WEDDERSPOON, of this city. --- A large party now at the Willard for a spring visit to Washington includes Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. PRICE, of Swampscott, Mass; Mrs. Charles H. Mrs. F. A. ST. CLAIR, president, to succeed the retiring president, Mrs. BEACH, who was unanimously elected honorary president of the society. Other officers elected were Mrs. C. A.
