Residents of Alexandria, regardless of religious affiliation, are pleased at the announcement that the Baltimore conference, which has just adjourned at Staunton, Va., reappointed the Rev. E. V. REGESTER to the pastorate of the Methodist Episcopal Church, in this city. Under his pastorate the church has prospered from every point of view during the past two years and members of his congregation look optimistically to the coming year. --- Plan Welcome to Soldiers. Plans for extending a hearty welcome home to the members of the three Episcopal churches of Alexandria upon their return from the war were discussed at a meeting held on Thursday night in the parish hall of St. Paul's Church. Capt. B. Mercer HARTMAN and Frank M. BAILEY, of Philadelphia, representing the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, delivered addresses, and these committees were appointed to carry out the project: St. Paul's - E. F. TICER, chairman; S. B. Committees have been appointed for the coming victory liberty loan campaign, and it has been decided to hold the Sunday drive for the sale of bonds on May 4. Booths for the sale of bonds will be located at twelve convenient points in the city, it is announced. Robert S. JONES is chairman of the executive committee. --- Republicans to Meet. The city Republican committee will meet at the New Southland Hotel in South Royal street at 8 p. m. on Saturday, April 12, when delegates will be chosen to represent Alexandria in the district convention to be held here on April 14 to nominate a candidate for the House of Representatives. --- Death of Miss Hilsie COOK.
