Founder of Washington Clothing Firm Succumbs in New York. Andrew SAKS founder of the well-known clothing firm of Saks & Co., of this city and New York died yesterday morning at his New York home. He was widely known in business circles. Mr. SAKS was a native of Baltimore. He came to Washington in 1867, and established the firm of Saks & Co. After his business in this city had become firmly established he went to New York, where he put in operation a large factory for the manufacture of men's clothing that supplied the Washington house. For the last fifteen years Mr. SAKS had made his home in the metropolis. The Washington store has been conducted under the ownership of a brother of Mr. SAKS, Isador SAKS and the latter's son, Joseph I. SAKS. Mr. SAKS is survived by his wife and two sons, Horace and William SAKS, both of New York. The death of Mr. SAKS was not unexpected.
