July 22: News was received here today from Bremen, Germany, that Emil Schandein, vice president of the Ph. Best Brewing Company, has succumbed to a severe attack of inflammation of the lungs, with which he had been suffering for over a week. Schandein, who was on his was to Carlsbad, where he intended to spend the summer, was suddenly take ill at Bremen. He was born in the Rheinish Palatinate in Bavaria in 1840 and came to America in 1856. New Brunswick, N.J., July 22: Col. Enos Fouratt, Chief of Police of this city died today at Orange Valley, N.J., age 62 years. He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the First New Jersey Infantry in the late rebellion, and served with distinction and honor. He was a prominent Democratic politician. Louisville, KY, July 22: Carl Brenner, the best known artist of this city, died here today at the age of 49. His first picture of note was exhibited n Philadelphia in 1876.
