The telephone was a very busy instrument all day yesterday, even though it was Sunday. Many of the laggards hoped to stimulate new interest, and asked many questions as to the conditions and how the prizes will be awarded. They will go to the schools securing the greatest number of votes in the next ten days, and these prizes will be given regardless of the number of pupils registered. One three months' service will be awarded to the public school that will gather the greatest number of votes in the week and a half of competition and one three months' service will be awarded to the private or parochial under the same condition. This service is valued at $37.50, and will allow five subjects a week, to be used for a week. Sixty-five different reels can be had during this period of time, and any subject can be secured right in Washington. The votes that will be produced in the next ten days will serve two purposes. Every vote that will be turned in during this special period will apply on the pathescopes under the general rules of the contest. The interest and business ability displayed by some of the boys that are working hard to bring: their school in on the top is remarkable. During a siege of watchful waiting at the State, War and Navy building, Harold VAN BUREN and Vaughn CONNOLY, representatives of the H. D. Cooke School Pathescope Club, had many experiences. One that came to our attention showed clearly that they were not devoting their time exclusively to the gathering of coupon votes, but were after the subscriptions. On interviewing one man that stepped out of the War and Navy building they were informed that he had given his subscription to some other boys who had asked him several days ago. He was then informed to save his votes for the best school in Washington, and that his help would bring them near to the place they desire to have when the final results were announced. That shows a great determination, and there are many boys and girls who are striving to be among the ten who will win The Post's! moving picture machine for their school. The list in today's paper is the same as it was yesterday, and is published for the purpose of showing the standing of the many schools to their friends and supporters who live outside of the District and don't receive the Sunday paper. Creed M. Fulton, Indicted for Embezzlement, Files Interpleader. A bill of interpleader was submitted to Justice McCOY in Equity Court Saturday by Creed M. FULTON, through his counsel, Wilton J. LAMBERT and Levi DAVID by which Mr. FULTON, who was recently indicted for embezzlement of certain funds claimed to belong to the heirs of Hiram SMITH, tenders the money in question into the registry of the court for distribution as the court may direct after ascertaining who are rightfully entitled to receive the fund. By the bill, Mr. FULTON sets forth that he was employed by one Frederick M. SMITH, claiming to represent all the heirs in question, to enter suit to recover certain money claimed to be due them as next of kin of Hiram SMITH, then he filed the necessary proceedings which resulted in a compromise being effected and about $?00 was paid to him. After the receipt of the money he claims to have made a statement of the account to F. M. SMITH, but that upon investigation it became difficult to decide who were entitled to different portions of the fund, and that several minors were interested, for whom no guardians had been appointed to receive their respective shares, which, he claims created a situation making it dangerous for him to turn over the money without having to assume double liability. Justice McCOY took the case under advisement as to what order he would enter. The criminal trial affecting the same funds is set for hearing today before Chief Justice COVINGTON in Crimi! nal Court No. 1. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
