Plans to help returning District soldiers obtain positions were discussed at a meeting yesterday of the Woman's Federated Council on Employment, held in the office of the United States employment service. Mrs. William HITZ presided and addresses were made by W. T. TURNBULL, representing the national service of the bureau for returning soldiers, sailors, marines and war workers, and Edward A LYCETTE, acting chairman of the District board of management. Mr. TURNBULL outlined the methods of volunteer cooperation with the employment service and how to prevent duplication of effort. Mr. LYCETTE said that there are 11,000 business houses in Washington, and as a business man knowing the needs of business in the city, made suggestions as how best to meet the demand for help and at the same time aid the service man. The women's clubs of the District agreed to make a survey of the business houses of the city to help soldiers and report to the United States employment service. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ DC-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
