She should appear as about age 73 (born 1857) and born in Indiana. Her first name of "Kitura" might have been spelled as "Ketura" on the 1930 Census. Kitura had married Thomas Montgomery in 1881 but had remarried to Alfred O. Hayes prior to 1920. She appeared as "Annie Hayes" on the 1920 Census in D.C. Every indication I have, however, points to Kitura having reverted back to her former maiden name of "Montgomery" and as living in Washington, D. C. at the time of the 1930 Census. If she can be located, please include the page number and location data where she was listed. Thanks! Michael Sellers

    2. Michael, My 1920 index isn't showing any results for Attie Hughes SISSON. Was Attie a nickname for something else? Where was she born? Did she have a husband and what was his name? She was born August 16, 1884, so she should appear at about age 35 on the 1920 Census. She began working as a stenographer for the Ansell & Bailey" law offices in Washington, D.C. on August 1, 1919. While still working for Ansell & Bailey, she was called before Congress on April 29, 1921, to testify in the hearings concerning the escape of Grover Cleveland Bergdoll. I know she was in D.C. at the time of the 1920 Census, I just don't know where. If found, please forward the page number on which the census was located as well. 3. Hi Marilyn, Attie Hughes Sison was born in TX and never married. I have seen her listed as "Mattie H. Sisson" on 1900 census for Van Zandt Co., TX, and as "Addie Sisson" for 1910 Census for Dallas Co., TX. Her grandmother was Martha "Mattie" (Wood) (Sellers) Sewell. It's quite possible that "Attie" was named "Martha" with the nickname of "Attie" fashioned in the form of her grandmother, who went by "Mattie". However, SSDI records list her as "ATTIE Hughes Sisson", which is all I've ever known her to be called. She was in Washington, D.C. as early as May 1913 when listed in the Will of her grandmother. She went to work for Ansell & Bailey law offices on August 1, 1919, and was still in D.C. when called to testify before Congress in April 1921. She was listed as living in D.C. according to Probate hearing for the Will of her grandmother in March 1929. She died in May 1980 in Washington, D.C. per SSDI records. I wonder whether finding her in 1930 and then working back to 1920 might help...? Thanks very much for the efforts, Marilyn. You've always been a great help in Census lookup requests of mine in the past.
