He lived in 16 Chapel Street Aberdare where my belated grandmother was born. Do you have any additional information regarding the Davies as I am having difficulty tracing one or two members of the family. If so, I look forward to your reply. Sue

    3. Hi Sue This is a long shot, a very long shot but I too am searching for my Great Grandfather Thomas William Davies' place of birth in Wales circa 1824. He `may' have adopted the name `William' upon arrival in Canada since there was another Thomas Davies where he settled. Your Thomas Davies sounds to be much younger and though there are literally scores of Thomas Davieses, I must leave no stone un- turned. That your ancestor came from Carmarthenshire also was an inducement for me to respond. I believe my Thomas was born in old Dyfed which I believe now is Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. Somebody correct my geography if I'm wrong. I also believe, but am guessing, that he emigrated to Canada in 1847 aboard the Brig Tamerlane out of Aberystwyth to Quebec [and New York]. This is a long shot as there are precious few passenger records of persons to Canada before 1860. Any likelihood that we are after the same Thomas Davies? Anybody else think they might be able to link to my GGrandfather? He married in Wallaceburg, ON [then Canada West] in 1852.
