Dear All, Just a quick note to thank you all sincerely for your messages throughout the past year and for letting me share your family research and our common interest. For the record my personal interests are: 1) John Jenkin Davies (my Great Grandfather) born 1839 in Clydagan, Cardigan; living in Yspitty Row, Llanelly (now Bynea) and Rhander Terrace, Llangennech from circa 1870s until 1920. 2) His son John Davies (my Grandmothers Brother and my late fathers Uncle) born 1874 in Pondtardulais, living in Yspitty Row, Llanelly from that date - included on 1881 and 1891 Census, but no trace on 1901 Census. Later reports suggest he was living on a farm called "Ty Draw" , near Llanelly in the 1920's, but despite much research, this information cannot be confirmed. Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy 2005 and with continued good fortune with your own research. John Moira, Co. Down Northern Ireland

He worked in a woolen mill in an area called "Checkerboard" in New York state. He moved to Mishawaka, Indiana, U.S.A. and worked in the Mishawaka Woolen Mills. He had a known brother and sister. Edward Robert married Lillian Hickey in South Bend, Indiana and had 2 daughters and 2 sons. Would anyone know about this individual? This is really a "shot in the dark" - since I've never posted a note before and can't imagine anyone will have information about him. He is my grandfather. Thank you for responding if you even suspect something. Corinne Davies (married name, Stoddard)

In the data I have for their places of birth, I'm confused as to the actual location. Is Glamorgan located in Radnorshire, or County Radnor, or is Glamorgan actually Glamorganshire? One is indicated as born in Llanstephen, Radnor Co, South Wales. The other is indicated as born in Llanstephan, County Radnor, Glamorgonshire, Wales. I'm not familiar with Wales to know if something is right, or wrong, or not possible or possible, smile. Can someone help me with this? Thank you, LuAna Drake Craig

Surnames: DAVIES Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HNR.2ACEB/1215 Message Board Post: I'm trying to locate the family of my gg-grandfather John Owen Davies who was born 11 May 1852 at Rhyl. I have his father listed as William Davies (as listed on John's marriage record) and John supposedly had several siblings (his father married twice) but the only names I have at the moment are: Arthur, William, Richard and Kate. The family for several generations were joiners/carpenters by profession. At some point John Owen Davies moved to England because he was married 1 January 1877 at Southport to Mary Ellen Worthing. They are listed on the 1881 Everton, Liverpool, England census which is were I obtained the birthplace of Rhyl for John. In 1885 the family emmigrated to America and settled in the Camden, NJ/Philadelphia/PA area. I've not been able to locate this family on the 1871 census mainly because I'm not sure where they were living at the time. Any help or suggestions on locating this family would be appreciated. Thanks, Susan

My mother visited the Waen Farm in Bwlch y Cibau. The only name I have is Bill Davies. They may have been related to the Owen family or just friends. So I am sorry, unless someone can link the name Davies and the Waen at Bwlch y Cibau, I am not sure where to take it. I have tried searching the 1901 Census but with such scant detail, I have had no luck. Best of luck

NatureHello all I'm looking for the above fellow who was born c1815 in St Georges, Bristol, Gloucestershire. He married an Eliza, and they appear in the 1861 Census of Usk, Monmouthshire with their children, Ann (1842), John (1844), Mary (1847), George (1850 - my great great grandfather), Eliza (1851), Thomas (1853) and Matilda (1856). They are still in Usk on New Market St in 1871, although only John, Eliza and Matilda of the children are still home by then. In 1881 Samuel turns up in Llantrisant, Glamorganshire with a new wife Mary, but they are nowhere to be found in 1891. Anybody out there related to him?
