Yes, I think there is a very high probability that we have a common ancestor. Basically my folks came to Berks from Wales and then travelled to Indiana with other quakers and finally settled in Minnesota. I recently received a family tree that has alot of PA contacts. If you could give me info as far back as you know, I can look it up. If you want email me directly at edwarldavies AT hotmail.com (note I didn't type the @ sign) great to make contact with you.

I am unfamiliar with the precise details of my ancestory, but do know that they were originally Quakers. I also have access to a vintage text with land title information for the Reading and Berks County area and I will attempt to discover if your ancestor held property in the timeframe you mention. Give me some time to check this out. I believe it is very possible that we share an ancestor. Mike Davies 525 Consitution Drive Middletown, PA 17057

Surnames: DAVIES, HAYES, GREEN, HERNDON, JOHNSON, ABBOTT Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HNR.2ACEB/1272 Message Board Post: I have hit a brick wall with my Davies research. My Great-Grandfather was MICHAEL WILLIAM DAVIES. He was born in April of 1897 or 1898, on the 18th or the 28th, depending on what document I’m looking at. According to his U.S. Naturalization papers, he was born on 28th April 1897, in London, England. He died in 1991 in Grants Pass, Oregon. According to his Social Security Card application, he lists his parents as Albert Davies and Mary Abberley. He served in the 38th Ottawa Battalion during WWI. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1919-1922. I have his pay book from WWI which show his checks being sent to Swansea, Wales, to his father, Albert Davies. He married EUNICE CLAIR HAYES in 1924 in Redondo Beach, California. They resided in Southern California for several years before moving to Oregon and operating a dairy farm until the 1970’s. I have many photos that are identified as siblings of Michael. Their names are: Albert, Eileen, and Bridget. I have a picture of his niece, Betty on her wedding day. The photo states she married a man named Larry. I would really appreciate any information that can aid in my research.

    3. Hi Sue This is a long shot, a very long shot but I too am searching for my Great Grandfather Thomas William Davies' place of birth in Wales circa 1824. He `may' have adopted the name `William' upon arrival in Canada since there was another Thomas Davies where he settled. Your Thomas Davies sounds to be much younger and though there are literally scores of Thomas Davieses, I must leave no stone un- turned. That your ancestor came from Carmarthenshire also was an inducement for me to respond. I believe my Thomas was born in old Dyfed which I believe now is Cardiganshire, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. Somebody correct my geography if I'm wrong. I also believe, but am guessing, that he emigrated to Canada in 1847 aboard the Brig Tamerlane out of Aberystwyth to Quebec [and New York]. This is a long shot as there are precious few passenger records of persons to Canada before 1860. Any likelihood that we are after the same Thomas Davies? Anybody else think they might be able to link to my GGrandfather? He married in Wallaceburg, ON [then Canada West] in 1852.
