Do you know when she was married? If after 1837, you'll be able to find the marriage in the GRO registrations and send away for her marriage cert. which will give you her maiden name. Best wishes, Lynne

Maybe that we are looking for the same person. I unfortuneately know nothing more of my Richard that married Hannah (m 1/7/1833 at Alton Staffordshire and have wondered what happened to him after Hannah died. I have a census record of 1851 Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire that shows their son Richard as being at his Uncles house (John Bryan) Richard is recorded as being 15 born Alton, Staffordshire and an apprentice builder. I am picking that he was apprentice to his Uncle and Grandfather also John Bryan as they had a building/stonemason business in Bryanstone Place, Stoke-on-Trent. Just been over there but Bryanstone Place is gone. The A500 goes thru where it would have been. Please email me.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HNR.2ACEB/1257.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi Joy, Thanks for the post....my Richard Davies was born in Landessel (Llanysul now called), Wales, in 1811. His father was David Davies and they were farmers back then. Richard moved to Sedgley in the West Midlands, via Wellington we think. He married Ann Cox in 1847. He was then late 30's, and she was about 14 yrs younger than him. As he was that age when he married Ann, we always had thoughts he had been married before but could not find any trace. Does your Richard tie in with any of those details? He became a waggoner when he moved from Wales. Annette
