I now ualso understand some of her offspring/relatives came over to Liverpool England during WWII with the American forces. I believe Ethel and her brother Absalom Parsons (my grandfather) were born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, were orphaned very young and went to MA (via Saskatchewan?) in the 1860-70’s. Absalom went to sea and later settled in England (my home) but Ethel stayed in MA and married a Davies (Davis?). We think there was at least one son - possibly John or Walter. Any help, contacts or suggestions would be very welcome. Regards roy

Hi I have DAVIES ancestors from Llanbadarn Fawr, but I've not been able to go far back with this line ... simply because the name is so common! I need to get back to it soon though, I've not given up. The descendancy for the DAVIES line I've searched so far is here: http://www.alisonbryan.com/tree/descend.php?personID=I512&tree=All For info, I also ordered a wrong birth cert, if anyone is interested. Hello Its a stretch most likely but shots in the dark are better than nothing. My GGrandfather was Thomas William Davies, born in Wales in 1824 [or so it's believed] but I don't know where. There's also been discussion that he may have added the name William after his arrival in Canada, arrival date also unknown. It's possible that William was a family name and he took it since there already was a Thomas Davies where he settled, in Kent County, Canada West, now Ontario. I do know that he was locally married [Wallaceburg, Ontario] 14 Sep 1851, spent almost 20 years in Chatham where he and his wife raised six children, then was most active in the development of Dresden, Kent first as a village and then as a town. He was a tailor, clothier, builder, land developer and a councilman. Children's names were Albert John, Sarah Elizabeth, Rachael Ann, Lydia A [probably Alice for her mother], Daniel Ross and Frederick William. As for Llanbadarn Fawr [one `d' I believe], I don't know but it's my gut feeling that he most likely came from Cardiganshire and sailed out of Aberystwyth in 1847. My second/third choices are Carmarthenshire and Glamorgan. While there were no David or Lewis among the children, there was a John, Elizabeth and Ann. Albert John, my grandfather, married a Nancy Lewis whose Lewis ancestors came from Glamorgan, Penydarren [I think - now part of Merthyr Tydfil]. Could your David have been an uncle; my TW a brother to your lot? Perhaps? It's not inconceivable. I'll welcome your thoughts or those of any other Davies researchers. I know Davies is a very common name among the Welsh people. And Thomas seems to be a family name for Davies, makes it very difficult to trace families. I can not seem to get beyond Thomas E Davies. Did your Thomas come to America on board the ship Marmaduke? Came to New Orleans and up the Mississippi to Missouri. Our Davies did. wishing you the best of luck in your search. Maxine Davies

I assume you are talking about David DAVIES who built the railway, statute in Llandinam etc? If so, you might find it better to subscribe to the Powys-L? The DAVIES family of Llandinam is of local interest (think history lessons in school even), thus more chance of people knowing who the family is?
