    3. Hi Everyone, I'm new to the list and I'm researching the following - would love to hear from anyone researching the same :- My great grandfather GOMER DAVIES was born in LLANNON,Carmarthenshire in 1873. He was the son of JOHN DAVIES (b. 1838) and MARY (b. 1849). They had other children THOMAS (b. 1869), MARY ANN (b. 1871), LLEWELLYN (b. 1876) and SILAS (b. 1878). In the 1881 census they were living at a dwelling called TAIRHOD in LLANNON. GOMER DAVIES married my greatgrandmother HARRIET ASHFORD in 1896 in PONTYPRIDD. Many thanks for any help, Sue

    3. Hi Listers, Thanks to Peter and Daphne Monks for their interest in my gggranddad. Perhaps a little more info on Thomas may help to locate him. I apparently failed to mention on my last posting that Thomas's eldest child, David Oliver, was born in 1859/1860 in Cardiff. Their other son Arthur Gildas (the youngest) was born in May 1867 in Cardiff. There were also two girls - Martha L, born 1862 and Rosetta A, born 1865. Just as a matter of interest, perhaps Thomas' son, David Oliver was named for Thomas' father. Thomas' wife, Martha(formerly Davies) was born 1833 in Fishguard, PEM. If Thomas was born in 1819, according to the Monumental Index, then he would have been 14 yrs older than Martha, and 40 yrs old at the birth of their first child in 1859. The Monumental Index also gives his date of death as 28 Sept 1873. According to the St Cath's Index, he died in the District of Builth. Where is that????? I have no indication of where he was born, except that his wife was a native of Fishguard, PEM, perhaps he was also born there and not Cardiff. If someone has access to the 1871 Census of Wales, could they please have a look for him and his family in Ely Rd, Canton Cardiff as his son was born there 4 yrs earlier. This may throw some light on his origins. Thank you in advance for any tidbit you may find. Yours in anticipation Rosie Hawkins Warwick Qld Aust.

    3. Hi Listers, This is my first request on this list, so bear with me. I'm trying to find information regarding the birth and marriage of my gggrandfather, Thomas Richard Davies. He was born in Wales, circa 1919. I have a record of his death as follows: Thomas Richard Davies, died 28 September 1873, age 54, buried at Ararat Baptist Cemetery, Whitchurch, Glamorgan, Wales. However, my Gen Soc cannot locate his death record on the St Caths Index. He is listed as a House Proprietor, Ely Road, Canton on his son's birth cert. and listed as a master-mariner living in Canton, Cardiff on his son's marr cert. I know that he died before 1881 as his widow had remarried and was living in Pembroke House, Llandaff, Cardiff with her 2nd husband, Thomas Williams(also a retired master-mariner)and the children. His wife's maiden name was Martha Davies(yes, a Davies/Davies marr.), who was born in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, Wales. I have no information on her either, except that she was born ca 1833. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated, perhaps if someone could check the 1871 census for Cardiff, this might at least give me a place to start. With anticipation Rosie from a beautiful spring day in Warwick, Qld, Aust.

Buried Oakwood Cemetery N.Y. Married EDWIN or EDWARD PIPPARD somewhere in WALES. They had 4 or 5 children born in CARDIFF WALES. GEORGE WILLIAM PIPPARD born SEPT. 4, 1884. EDWIN PIPPARD, JOHN PIPPARD, ANNE PIPPARD, OWEN PIPPARD. Anne was born around 1889 or1890. Anne may have been born in ESSEX ENGLAND, the census records are very hard to read. Margaret and children came to Niagara Falls, New York when George Pippard was 9 years old I was told. But no trace of them until 1910 census which would have made George 25 years old. George Pippard is my ggrandfather . MARGARET DAVIES husband EDWIN or EDWARD PIPPARD I was told did not come with them. I don't know anything about him. MARGARET'S obit in the newpaper states her children JOHN PIPPARD of England, EDWIN,OWEN PIPPARD of Buffalo, and GEORGE PIPPARD of Niagara Falls, New York. There is no mention of ANNE PIPPARD in the OBIT of MARGARET her mother, but she is on the census with GEORGE AND MARGARET IN 1910. Was told she died at age 22 giving birth. Unable to find her. WILLIAM PIPPARD may have been killed in a train accid here in the FALLS, going to check that out next week. They belonged to the EPISCOPAL CHURCH in the Falls but that is a dead end because the Church burnt down with all the records. The records to the graveyard where William is buried were also in that Church. If William is in that graveyard he doesn't have a tombstone, I checked . Looking for any info on MARGARET ELIZABETH DAVIES her marriage, her date of birth her husband , her children, anything at all I would greatly appreciate. I AM JUST STARTING MY FAMILY TREE SO PLEASE BARE WITH ME AS I LEARN ALONG THE WAY thank you tiff --part1_47eeb491.24f98132_boundary--

It follows: William DAVIES, b. DEC28th 1. Tommy, b. 18MAR1884 1. Griffith, b. 26OCT1886 1. Wm. John, b. 12DEC1889__dead 1. (F)anny, b. 29DEC1890 I have no idea where these individulas were located at the time of the document's origin. I assume that William was the father, but there was no listing for the mother on the document I came across during my research. Can someone shed some light on who they were and any other particulars on them ? ___Bob IRELAND
