    3. I am looking for the father of Jacob Davidson who married Sarah Selvage (Selvidge)in Grainger Co, TN 30 Jan 1814. The moved on to Hardin Co, TN where they lived and died. They moved there with William Davidson and wife Eleanor Selvidge (sister of Sarah). Jacob signed the marriage bond for William Davidson. I do not know what their relationship was. William and Eleanor married in Jefferson Co, TN in 1819. Jacob was older than William, but I don't know who their parents were or where they came from. William and Eleanor Davidson were my ggggrandparents. - Amy L. The davidson of my line are descended from a Edward Davidson and Elizabeth Married 1808 in SC He is from SC She from NC. they moved to Grainger Co TN around 1810. Raised about ten children in Grainger Co. My Great grand dad Nathaniel was one of the children. He and most of the children moved on to Marshall Co AL around 1830. Most all people who traveled at that time in the mountains of the Applicians would use some type of river travel. Look at the upper Tenn River. It starts about Grainger Co. and Marshall Co is as far south as it goes before turning north again to TN. That is why lots of familys moved from Grainger to Marshall. I am trying to find any Davidson with Connections to Grainger who is doing Family Research. I do not know Edwards Parents or Bro & Sis. Although I do have a large amount of data on Edward and his Descendants. 3. Amy, There was a Blair/Blaine Davidson (married Dorcas Cunningham in 1800), a Abner Davidson (married Anney Evans in 1802), an Alexander Davidson (married Patsey Smith in 1803) and aWilliam Davidson (married Hanna Oaks in 1804), all in Grainger Co., TN. Please see the earlier post by Sherri on her Blair/Blaine Davidson. Sherri's family is an apparent DNA match to the Davidsons who were in Bedford/Campbell Co., VA in the late 1700s-early 1800s. The earliest man in that family that I have found was James Davi(d)son, Senior, who apparently came to Bedford Co., VA sometime before 1779. I SUSPECT that at least some of the other men mentioned above were also out of that same family from PA/Bedford/Campbell (and they were NOT related to the Davidson family out of JCCo/CCCo/Buckingham/Henry/etc.). Your Jacob Davidson married Sarah Selvage in 1814, a Briant Davidson married Sarah James in 1816 and a James Davidson married a Nancy Braden in 1820, all in Grainger Co., TN. Your guess is as good as mine (or maybe better than mine) as to which Davidson family any of the above belonged. They could have been remnants of the "JCCo/CCCo Davidsons" who had been in Buckingham/Pittsylvania/Henry/Patrick Co., VA, or they could have been out of the family of the above-mentioned James Davi(d)son, Senior from PA (or yet one or more additional/unproven Davi(d)son family/families). I have documented about a dozen apparently unrelated Davidson/Davison/Davisson families that came through VA in the 1600s-1800s, and DNA continues to prove that most of them truly do not share a common ancestor, going back probably thousands of years. 3. Amy, Per that website on the family of James Davidson and Mary Bean of PA and then Guilford Co., NC (http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~genea/Dzjamesbean.html), the grandson named William Davidson (son of James "II" and Hannah Sidwell) who married Hanna Oaks in Grainger Co., TN in 1804 had brothers named Jacob Davidson and James Davidson. The names of their wives are not shown on that website. I wonder if "your" Jacob Davidson who married Sara Selvage in Grainger in 1814 (with James Selvage as bondsman) was THAT Jacob Davidson (ditto the James Davidson who married Nancy Braden in Grainger in 1820, with a William Davidson as Bondsman)? Just a possibility, I guess. The bondsman for the marriage of Briant/Bryant Davidson and Sarah James in Grainger in 1816 was a John Davidson, and I can only guess which family that was. MAYBE that was the John Davidson from "my family" who was in Henry Co., VA around 1782-1784 and who was apparently the John Davidson who was then on the 1790 Stokes Co., NC census with David Davidson (who later went to Grainger Co., TN) and Richard Davidson....but that is just a "wild guess." I never knew what happened to that John Davidson after he appeared on the Stokes Co., NC census....but I have never done any independent research on him in TN, outside of just "Internet searches." There is a 16 Sep 1815 TN deed from George Isom, Junior to Bryant Davidson for 100 acres on Bull Run, and a John Davidson and a Robert Davidson were witnesses. That is the only time that I have seen a record for a Robert Davidson in that area (MAYBE Robert and Bryant Davidson were both sons of this John Davidson).
