If so, a person whose DNA matches your family (member/donor 62919 shown under "Family 3" on the Davidson/Davison/Davisson DNA website) shows that John Davidson as being born about 1728 (versus 1721). Bill, Thank you for calling the typo to my attention. My John Davidson was born 1728 -- not 1721. Yes, this is the John Davidson who "may" have been marred to Tabitha Porter. I am still looking for a document to confirm this marriage. It is accepted family tradition. One of John's sons was, also, John Davidson. Son John was born 1761 -- as was his sister. She was Elizabeth Davidson Leeper -- married to John Leeper. John Leeper was the son of Nicholas Leeper. For several years I have been corresponding with member/donor 62919 shown under "Family 3" in the DNA project. I even went to the cemetery in Mt. Zion, IL where this Davidson's direct ancestor is buried. He was the brother of my John Davidson -- born 1761. Therefore, he was the son of John Davidson -- born 1728. One can find TREMENDOUS amounts of information in this town about the Davidson family from Mt. Zion, IL. Records can be found in the old Presbyterian Church and in other town records. A side note of interest: William and Samuel Davidson (brothers of my John Davidson) left South Carolina many years after the Revolution. They settled in Mt. Zion, IL. They established the first Presbyterian Church in the area. In that church, they had a huge sold metal cross put at the alter. The church records say the Davidson family brought it with them from South Carolina. The original church burned down -- but the people were able to save the cross. It is in the new church today. I was able to touch it and take pictures of it. The church secretary told me when they moved it to the new church that it was extremely heavy and hard to move. Imagine bringing it from S. C. to Illinois? Thanks, again, for bringing the birth date of my John Davidson to my attention -- so I could correct it. As for the date of 1728 -- my resource for that is from the book, Leaves of the Tree. Anna Gayle
