Anna, Your account of "mixed-up" Davidson men reminds me of one of my experiences years ago when I first began exploring my Davidson line. I did all the usual stuff - talk to descendants, visit cemeteries, read all pertinent local material, explore the census and county records, etc. Then I discovered that a magnificent tombstone had been erected for a William Davidson in a local cemetery, along with newspaper coverage of the event. But when I searched the records to document William, he was not the "right" William. I never told anyone because I was just a young genealogist and did not feel capable of defending my position. To my knowledge, no one else has uncovered the mistake. Helen
