The Shelton/Chilton DNA study has identified connections to Pittsylvania Co., VA. Joel Shelton married to Mary Polly Davidson is in one such grouping. Based on the Shelton DNA, I strongly suspect a connection to the John Davidson who married Rachel Shelton in Pittsylvania Co., VA. Mary Polly Davidson who was married to Joel Shelton appears to be a sister of Letsy Davidson who married David Bunch. This assumption is based on close association of the families. A Bunch genealogy identies Letsy as the daughter of John Davidson. All were in Dickson Co., TN, in the early 1800's, then later (1820) in Perry Co., TN before migrating to Missouri about 1854.
