    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FNR.2ACEB/3233.3.1.3.1.1 Message Board Post: It is interesting to note that DNA donor 22233 is in the same "family group" (Family 4) as Samuel Harris Davidson. The person representing donor 22233 on the website is a women, and her research shows that her family MIGHT be from a David Davison and his wife Elizabeth. There has been a lot of review on exactly which David Davison that was (assuming that he was REALLY even the "correct guy" for this donor). There was a David Davison who married an Elizabeth Cockrane in Bedford Co., VA in 1779, and his brother James Davison, Jr. married the sister named Jane/Jean Cockrane that same year. Both men appear to have been sons of a James Davison, Sr. who came to VA by the 1770s from PA (per the Rev. War pension application of yet another son named Samuel). There was also a David Davison and his wife Elizabeth who had a son named Philemon Davison in PA in 1785, and this family later moved to KY. Some believe that this was the same David and Elizabeth who were married in VA in 1779. I cannot say for sure, but I certainly have my doubts, especially since there were still two David Davisons in Campbell Co., VA as late as 1806 (Campbell was created from a part of Bedford), and it is known that the brother James Davison, Jr. died in VA. The David Davison and Elizabeth in PA, as well as their son Philemon Davison, moved to KY by 1800 (Philemon is buried in Hancock Co., KY). There was also a John Davison who was in the same area of KY as the above David, and it APPEARS that he was probably a cousin or maybe even a brother of David's. Donor 22057 (Famly 7) is KNOWN to have been from a family that was in Campbell Co., VA, and my research suggests that he was from the same family as the James Davison, Sr., David Davison and James Davison, Jr. who were also there. Since Family 7 and Family 4 do not "match," that suggests that that David Davison who married Elizabeth in VA was a different man than the David Davison who married an Elizabeth and who had Philemon in PA and who moved to KY (OR, conversely, that donor 22233 is not REALLY a descendant of the "KY David Davison" after all). There was also a David Davisson in VA who was apparently from the family shown in Family 2 (who, once they came to VA, were primarily in the Harrison and Monongalia portions of VA....later West Virginia). The DNA from that Family 2, however, does not match anyone in Family 4 or Family 7. There is another living Davison who has documented PROOF that he comes from the David and Elizabeth Davison who were in KY by 1800 (and who had the son named Philemon). He intends to have his DNA tested in the foreseeable future, and it will be interesting to see if he matches 22233, versus anyone else. As you may know, there was a Chilton/Shelton family in Pittsylvania Co., VA, and a Mark Chilton/Shelton from that family left a will there. That will clearly shows that two of his daughters had married Davidson men, and I always suspected that those two men were PROBABLY two of the three Davidson brothers who were also in that county. Note: There was yet another Davidson family in Pitttsylvania Co., VA in the late 1760s/early 1770s (William, Richard and John). They do not appear to have been "connected" to your family in any way, and based on my research, they were PROBABLY related to the family represented on the DNA website by Family 5. I have no idea if any of THEM married into the Chilton/Shelton family. I would suggest that donor 54640 consider having markers 13-25 tested (if not 13-37). Only 12 markers is extremely tenative/unreliable to make any firm conclusions (even two people with different surnames can sometimes match perfectly in just the first 12 markers). I know of some surname DNA websites that will not even allow you to join unless you are willing to pay for at least 37 markers, but 25 markers is much better than just 12.
