Hi Anna I have confirmed my John E. Davidson sometimes used the middle name of Edward but most of the time his name was simply John Davidson. He was born about 1820 somewhere in GA and married his first time in 1856 to Martha Elizabeth Abney. After he returned to Columbus, GA following the civil war he took his family to Marshall County, AL where he was widowed twice and married for a third time. He only had children by his first wife. He died on Grants Mountain in Marshall County, AL about 1918 according to his oldest grand daughter. I found no death certificate and no newspaper obituary about his death. He did not apply for a confederate pension while he was in Alabama nor did his widow. This makes it rather strange for when folks were entitled they usually applied. His son's father in law who lived in the same community applied for pension for his service in the civil war. I have been searching for many years to make a provable connection in this line so now I am going to see if the DNA project will shed some light on his lineage. Alvie L.
