I have been looking over the two sets of books covering military service pension files and discovered many of these files are about soldiers or their widows who got pensions for Indian War service in GA, AL, and FL in the time frame of 1835-1855. Can anyone tell if there has been a concerted effort to get a collective copy of each of these records from NARA and transcribe them? I see several which concern men who lived in or near my ancestor John E. Davidson in Muscogee County, GA. Even though I think my John E. Davidson has military service which made him or his widow eligible for a pension neither he nor his widow applied for one. I would be willing to get these transcribed if we could get the copies. I know a researcher in the DC area who will make copies from the Archives at a very reasonable fee per file. What a gold mine this could be for families that have lost Davidson lineage in the early part of the 19th century in the south. Any suggestions? Alvie L.
