Good morning John I have been watching the discussion about DNA and have been a bit reluctant to get into this part of genealogical research. My line has hit a dead end in a time frame just before 1850 when my great grandfather, John E. Davidson, was born somewhere in Georgia. Based upon his information on various records such as census and military records he was born about 1820 in GA and both parents were born in GA. He married his first wife (my great grandmother) in Columbus, GA in 1856 and died in Marshall County, AL about 1918. He married twice again but never had more children. I have located family members of all of his children scattered about the country and have been researching this line for about 30 years with no success of getting anything to yield names or identities of John's parents. I am hoping DNA (59 markers) might give me some direction as to which Davidson line I am descended from. I am going to contact a paternal second cousin (descends from John from another son other than mine) and we will submit a DNA sample and see what we get as results. Alvie L.
